The property is getting a "little old in the tooth". Although the majority of the hotel has been renovated, very little has been done to the guest rooms on floors 1 to 6. The hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful and I would definitely stay there again but in an upgraded room. Great executive lounge and worth and additional cost or type of accommodations required to use it. The food was excellent along with the restaurant personnel.

I stayed in this hotel while on business and although i was only staying in one of the Delux rooms, it was clean and very comfortable. I had access to the public business lounge on the lower level and we were very well taken care of as we held meetings there almost every day. The level of service in the hotel from almost all of the staff (with the exception of the reception staff) was of an incredibly high standard compared to other hotels i have stayed in while visiting Israel and i felt that they really wanted to ensure that your stay was great. The breakfast in the hotel is probably one of the best that i have experienced and in such a beautiful setting with view across the beach and out to sea. I would most definately stay there again, great service and great location.

We had stayed at this hotel each year for the past 3 years (when it was previously the Sheraton Moriah and then the Leonardo Tel Aviv), and had grown increasingly frustrated as the quality of the hotel and the staff declined each year, and vowed to stay at a different hotel this year. Then we read the other reviews that discussed all the positive changes that had occurred here, and decided to give it another try for our 9 night stay as we love the location of the hotel, right on the beach and central to everything in Tel Aviv.

From the moment we arrived, we were amazed by the transformation the hotel and staff had undergone. We were quickly greeted by parking attendants (in the previous visits they were hard to find) as well as a Captain who oversaw the unloading of our bags and check-in. We also noticed the hotel manager supervising the staff in the lobby, a good sign of things to come, since in the old hotel the staff always seemed disorganized. The lobby has been beautifully remodeled and includes a comfortable bar and casual restaurant overlooking the beach. Elevators are still small, and can sometimes be overcrowded. Our room was very nice and clean, including a small balcony overlooking the beach and a comfortable queen size bed (although the bottom sheet was slightly too small and could not be tucked under the mattress). They smartly replaced the old worn carpeting which was difficult to keep clean given the beach location with bright wood floors, repainted the walls in a light color, and replaced the old heavy furniture with more streamlined built-ins which makes the room seem larger even though the size wasn’t altered in the renovation of the hotel. Bathrooms are still small but have been modernized including a great walk-in shower. Yes, the toilets are difficult to flush, surely someone can develop a way for this to improve as it wastes water to have to flush the toilet repeatedly. They also replaced the old entry doors with a new much thicker door which dramatically cuts down on noise from the hallway. We also found that the staff did a great job keeping the room clean, and were very polite and helpful.

The whole breakfast experience has improved remarkably. There used to be 2 dining rooms downstairs, 1 of which was small and cramped so everyone fought to get into the main room. They remodeled the whole floor so that there is now one large spacious dining room. They also reconfigured the buffet area so there is more room to maneuver. There are now separate areas for omelets and eggs, salads, smoked fish, cheese, freshly made waffles most days, and a separate coffee station where attendants make up cappuccinos and espressos to order. They even moved the baking ovens outside the kitchen where they are visible, so you can watch as they make delicious fresh pastry constantly. The staff was much friendlier and more helpful than they had been on our prior visits, and it was interesting to note that a manager was always present in the breakfast room overseeing the staff, something seldom seen in the old hotel.

Overall, this was a great experience and our most enjoyable stay yet in Tel Aviv. We found the staff extremely helpful at all times, and plan on staying there again on our next trip.

Room Tip: In booking rooms here, you do need to pay attention to the various room packages they offer. While...

We stayed in a renovated room on 14th floor. Great decor. Great TV. The bathroom was a bit on the small side but made up for this by its luxury feel.
It would appear that no modern toilets, in Israel or elsewhere, flush properly, but this one really did not want to flush anything away!
The breakfast was exquisite. Far better than any of the other 4/5 star hotels I have stayed at in Israel.
My only complaint relates to them wanting to charge USD 10 per use of a tiny gym with 2 machines and a few free weights. Admittedly, after I kicked up a huge fuss the manager let me in for free, but having to pay to use a gym is not what you expect in a hotel where you are paying USD 250-300 per night!
Over all, a great hotel with a vacation atmosphere. All the staff are very friendly.
I didn't see the unrenovated rooms (floors 1 to 7) so can't comment on them.

Room Tip: Rooms nearer the sea are MUCH nicer than those closer to the road that runs very close to the hotel...

We come to israel quite a lot so we thought it would be nice to stay somewhere diffrent and we heard that Herods had not been open long .The entrance lobby can only be described as a scene from Alfred Hitchcock's Birds, House of Wax and an artificial Orange Grove !!! We stayed in a club room (dont stay in the others ) the design was a total tacky mess. The main restaurant was another orange grove the interior designer must love his freshly squeezed. Good points breakfast very nice food tasty and hotel staff try there best

Room Tip: look at it first on the web

Very good position on the beach. The room was great, with a small balcony looking out over Tel Aviv. Breakfast fantastic, only one day we had to eat in a very cramped hall as the main breakfast room was closed. Pool adequate, but in the shade most of the day. Bathroom very small, and our toilet never flushed properly, even though we reported it on the first day. Very helpful staff in the lobby.Other than these few small things, a very good choice in Tel Aviv.

We have spent one week in Herods and for most part our experience in this hotel was very positive. I do not wish to put anyone off this hotel as this is quite minor moan but I do have to mention couple of things we found a little bit annoying whilst staying there. We would be woken up each morning around 8.00am by the cleaners vacuuming the hallways (surely they could start with that a little bit later, after all people are on holiday and would like some rest in the morning), also cleaners would be knocking on the doors asking to clean the room regardless of the sign 'do not disturb' clearly displayed outside the door. The hotel's pool is nice but photos look better than reality, it is for most part of the day in the shade. This however didn't bother us as we loved the beach which is just outside the hotel and amazing, but for those who rely on the pool I would like them to know. Also they had major issue with drains and it was not pleasant spending time in the bathroom area, but this may be the case for the most of hotels in Tel Aviv?! Breakfast choice is really good and plentiful. Business lounge only has 2 pc's and you may not get a chance to use them as it is always busy but you can have a coffee, cakes, soft drinks and fruit all day (until 7pm) should you have this as a part of your deal with your room price. Make sure you ask to go on the roof at 18th floor and take some night photos of the Tel Aviv. Doors are normally open anyway. Location of this hotel is great for the beach and also exploring the city. Old Jaffa is approximately 30/40mins nice walking distance away and it is beautiful part of Tel Aviv.
