My Tel Aviv preferred business hotel

Another very nice stay at the Dan hotel...
This is one of Tel Aviv hotels where level of service is high in a cosy and very nicely redone atmosphere. Eventhough I prefer the none renovated rooms, the regular renovations that have been performed in the common areas also give it a classy and warm feel.
The room I stayed in was a junior suite, well equipped and bathroom with jacuzzi and included all facilities for a business traveller, in particular enough plugs to recharge at once the various devices I used.
Staff is friendly and professional which is not always the case in Israeli hotels unfortunately.
Location, in front of the sea and in the center of Tel Aviv completes the attractiveness of the hotel.

Almost makes it

We had a Sea View room with a nice view of the Mediterranean. The room was great to look at but the sheets did not fit properly and came undone each night. The rear of the hotel faces the sea but there is a street to cross. The location is OK but a bit of a trek to downtown tel aviv.
We looked for a spot in the hotel to get a light meal and were directed to a restaurant that had no staff and no customers. We were then told to go to the bar and they would serve a light menu.
When we arrived we were told that food was unavailable. We finally went to the main restaurant in the hotel. There was a table for eight in the middle of the room and we were told that they had all of the English menus and we would have to wait to order. ( The restaurant holds about forty people) There was nothing very wrong with the hotel but the little things were the difference between average and very good. We were on the concierge floor but the concierge lounge was in the basement level, which was very strange.

Room Tip: Get a sea view room

Solid but not spectacular

A pleasant stay at the Dan.

Room was modern and comfortable and enjoyed the extra T.V in the bathroom.

Breakfast was exceptional and the range is wide and tempting.

Wifi was the biggest bug bear. Quite high extra charges for wifi and on a per-device basis which seems a bit devious.

Dan Tel Aviv Review

I have been visiting the Dan Tel Aviv for many years. It is centrally located on the sea side and has updated rooms and services. Excellent buffet for breakfast and well prepared dinners with an excellent wine list.Of particular note is the King David Lounge where light snacks, drinks and comfortable seating is abundant. The staff is friendly, professional and responsive to request and quick to provide assistance.

The staff provides excellent service and have ensured that my stay is comfortable and hassle free, especially Ifat in Customer Service, Hen in the King David Lounge and Miri in the front office.

Room Tip: Sea side rooms have excellent view of the beach

way too expensive for what you get

Arrival around 23h30 and 20 minutes were needed to check-in after a 8 hour journey, it's very long,as we were the only two at the desk. The reason is simple, the guy doesn't know how to make a print of your CC. he tried several time in the 4 possible directions and told us, it's because we are re-booting the system. During all this time, his (more senior) colleague was calling, once finished with his call, he came and made the print of the CC in one pass just by pressing another button......(nothing to do with the re-booting, because the minibar was still re-booting at arrival in the room) The junior was ashame (about his lie) but completed our check in.
The rooms are big, the TV-channel offer is complete (GB-FR-IT-D...) and equipped with mini-bar (poor offer, 1 beer only, 1 coke only...) with automatic invoicing (be sure you control at check-out). My bed was ok and there is one complimentary 50?cl bottle of water in the room.
Internet is free in the lobby but extremely expensive everywhere else: 70NIS/24h (14€)
As i woke up very early every morning I can't tell about the noise coming from the promenade (I think it's noisy)
The staff is friendly at the breakfast but rather rude in the bar and at the reception desk.
Conclusion: My next stay will be in januari 2013, I'll try something else and keep you posted.

Room Tip: I believe the higher the best (to avoid noise from the street) but i'm not sure as I woke up very early every day.
