“Great Location”
Reviewed June 15, 2012

Plus points
The recent renovations have transformed the Hotel - we love the location which is in easy walking distance of the Carmel Market, Neve Tzedek, Jaffa and the beach front to Tel Aviv. The food is excellent particularly breakfast. The room prices are middle range and value for money (but extortionate at Pesach) and on this return visit we upgraded to Executive. Pool and poolside food great, staff friendly and helpful.

Minus points
Drove us nuts that the rooms were not serviced until the afternoon unless we complained or grabbed a cleaner and asked them to do it. Wi-fi connection is ridiculously expensive although it was possible to use a computer for 15 minutes at a time in the executive suite.

Room Tip: It appears that the higher the floor the better the room - request sea view.

The location is great. The lobby is very nice but do not be surprised when you have been waiting in long line for a desk clerk and someone walks in the door and cuts in front of you. The concierge was GREAT! The breakfast buffet is a feast and we were not hungry until dinner. One barista was excellant but the other two seemed confused. The room was nicely appointed and had been furnished tastefully with a fabulous view of the Mediterranean however - the bathroom looked like it had been beamed there from a 1980s Sheraton teardown. Beige granite with 1980s appointments including a body-hugging shower curtain. There was a bad soured smell in the bathroom the entire time we were there. The repairs that had been made were very obvious and were shoddy workmanship. The housekeeping staff got in no hurry but barely skimmed the room everyday in the LATE afternoon so forget taking an afternoon nap unless you do not want fresh towels etc. Every day in the early evening some joker rides a bicycle around on the sidewalk outside throwing out photo cards for an escort service. The hotel seems to tolerate this and does nothing to clean it up or to stop it. This hotel does not justify the high price it demands.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view.

Pluses: excellent location, balconies overlooking the beach, and wonderful breakfast buffets,
Negatives: Small rooms with old bathrooms, poor housekeeping, no amenities in room, expensive wi-fi.
Ice was available only from room service for 10 shekels. For me, the negatives outweighed the positives. Better choices available.

So we came with our son to this hotel and the word deluxe should not apply to their standard rooms. They are shoddy and in need of refurbishment, 3 star at the most. We paid 40US dollars extra and moved to an executive room. These are on the higher floors, which is why you will see more glowing room reports when people say they stayed on the upper levels. This made a significant difference to our room stay. Gone was the moldy bath tiles, shoody carpet and bashed out furniture and in came what I had expected at the beginning....a four star room, with good and clean bathroom, well appointed bedroom and no stale smells. The food was good at the hotel, the pool was lovely and the concierges were helpful. I think the receptionists did not really enjoy their jobs any more as they did not have a very customer orientated manner. Dan Panorama management, please either delete the word deluxe from your marketing literature about your basic rooms or invest in upgrading them. Just one final point, I joined Boingo for £4.10 for the month and found this a far cheaper alternative than the heady internet prices the hotel wanted to charge.

This is a lovely hotel at the southern end of the beach-hotel strip in Tel Aviv. Right next door to the David Intercontinental, but not as expensive, and with all the excellent services you could wish. The rooms are very comfortable, with beautiful modern furnishings. The bathroom is large and our shower had several choices for the shower head! The common dining halls are nice and have a balcony seating option. The concierge and desk staff is very friendly and helpful. It's a five-minute walk from the Neveh Tzedek neighborhood -- the "SoHo" of Tel Aviv, and an excellent beach is a five-minute walk away.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the sea.

Overall our stay at Dan Panorama was good but it was marred by poor housekeeping and room services and the lack of free WiFi.
On the upside, our room was spacious, contemporary, and had a great view of the beach and pool. The staff were competent although not very friendly. The breakfast was great. The pool was nice, had a great view of the sea and had a snack bar with a variety of choices. The lack of free WiFi in a 4 star hotel, however is not a selling point.
What surprised us was the housekeeping and room service. We stayed for 5 days and 2 of those days we had to make multiple calls to the front desk in order to have the housekeepers even show up - despite the 'make up the room' sign being on the door all day while we were away on a tour. Comforters were always placed upside down (so the opening was at the head of the bed) and the bottom sheet was almost never tucked in - so it pulled up as soon as you got into bed every time.
Room service was prompt and the food was good but they forgot items several times and we had to call them to bring the missing items up. What became the most annoying was that, every time there was a problem and they sent someone to fix it, the front desk would call 20 minutes later to ask if it had been done yet. Since we experienced quite a few issues, we found ourselves fielding too many of these calls. It would have been preferable if the staff just double checked with the individual departments to see if the services requested had been completed and not bothered guests who were already slightly disgruntled at the oversight.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to my friends.
