Ranked #24 of 100 Hotels in Tel Aviv
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 18, 2013

I wonder whether people who gave the ranking of 5 star hotel to Carlton Tel Aviv , saw the rooms of this hotel. They are just horrible, dirty , absolutely different from what they present in the Internet . Shower is very difficult to use, some parts were falling down, and after the shower there was a swimming pool in the bathroom. Toilet the same. You can find much better towels in any student hostel. They were small , thin and different dirty spots. They describe on their web page , room with a nice balcony with a seaview. The balcony was just 1 meter, semi destroyed, with kilos of dust, and you had to make an effort to see the sea. And moreover , personnel cold and unfriendly . Lilian, Switzerland

The location of the hotel is wonderful--overlooking the calm Mediterranean Sea, adjacent to the marina, next to a lovely park, on the boardwalk and still just a few blocks from the excitement of the city. The rooms are large and beautifully, luxuriously appointed, decorated in a modern rich fashion. My entire family loved the balcony with exquisite views and the rooftop deck. I appreciated the friendly, efficient service we received from everyone from the kind and eager-to-please front desk staff to the floor maids who couldn't do enough to make our stay like we were guests in their own home. The modern lobby and lounge was wonderfully conducive to both private conversation and people watching. The food was tremendous! Unbelievable variety, and all of it beyond delicious. Service at dinner was impeccable European, then efficient and friendly at breakfast as we were off to tour. This will definitely be my hotel for my next visit!

Room Tip: Views on all sides were so very interesting--the Mediterranean, the marina, the beautiful vibrant c...

Now I know... top off the end of your trip in Israel with a stay in Tel-Aviv.
The hotel was SUPER accommodating from the doormen to the front desk and beyond. They REALLY went out of the way for us.

They made us feel like family, REALLY going out of their way to recommend to us local stops and historical points of interest and eateries. The food was UNBELIEVABLE!!! Rooms - comfortable, roomy & clean.

On our departure there were a variety of groups coming in for conferences which showed the premises to be more than suitable for business meetings and stays. Interesting because it was family friendly and had the professional appeal.

Request an ocean view room and catch the sunset! The hotel is right on the Marina where you can charter a boat, rent a bicycle, run along the ocean, provides a GREAT spa with excellent masseurs, access to the Gordon pool which is a HUGE lap pool as well as children's/toddler areas. If you swim for exercise there are many different lanes to lap in and most interestingly they clean it EVERY night. Shops and eateries all in walking distance and beach is right there - was great watching the surfers... great museums and historical facts in the immediate vicinity of Tel-Aviv & Jaffa. Interesting historical facts regarding modern Israel.

Room Tip: Request Ocean View! Also if travelling with children roomos are next door to one another - ourts had...

Stayed at the Carlton with four others at the end of a 8 day adventure through Israel in August. I was extremely satisfied with the service and accommodations. We stayed in the "Mediterranean Presidential Suite" on the top floor of the hotel. The highlight of this 2 bedroom/3 bathroom apartment-like suite was the simply spectacular views of both the Mediterranean and the city through the large windows and from the balcony. The fruit and snack baskets that we received were great, as was the huge selection of beverages that were delivered to us shortly after our arrival. The private lounge/common area provided us with a large spread of food and drinks which was nice. The hotel couldn't have a more perfect location- literally right on the beach. Unfortunately, we were not able to do much more than wade in the water because of gigantic waves that basically closed all of the beaches to swimmers. The hotel has a roof top pool, but to be honest the entire pool/cabana area was lacking...aside from the spectacular views of both the sea and the city.

Dear Trekker3478. It was our pleasure to have you as our guests during your visit to Israel last August and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. The hotel is now nearing the end of its renovation programme and the Mediterranean Suite has been completely redeveloped and modernised. We are also delighted to advise that the swimming pool area is under renovation, and the new facility will offer the same spectacular location and views but with upgraded facilities. We hope that you will enjoy the new suite and pool area upon your next visit to Tel Aviv.

The Carlton is a good choice if you're spending 1 - 4 nights in Tel Aviv. The pros are its location on the beach, clean and comfortable rooms and facilities, as well as good service. The 45-minute walk along the promenade (beachside sidewalk) as sunset approached was one of our favorite parts of the trip. The disadvantage for some people will be the crowds, which can be annoying when waiting for elevators or if you eat breakfast in the hotel at peak times when a large tour group overwhelms the facility. That said, the Israeli breakfast was excellent -- both tasteful and with "unlimited" food for the biggest eaters, between the buffet and the customized hot food station. While in Tel Aviv, be sure to get tickets for the Nalaga'at Dinner Theater -- which provides an experience that will likely change your views about the world and people who aim to remove the "dis" from disabilities. Independence Hall is another "must see".

Room Tip: We typically prefer rooms on the higher floors but this was not an issue at the Carlton as we had a...
