Generally a safe bet for a beachside hotel although it has more of a corporate feel about it than a holiday destination. Has an indoor swimming pool but does have direct access to the beach. Very friendly welcome from reception when I checked in. (And you don't need to read too many reviews on here to realise the importance of first impressions!)
I was probably a bit unlucky to have a room on a low floor so couldn't appreciate the views, but it wasn't something that really bothered me. The room itself was clean and not a bad size. Had a bit of run down feel but nothing serious. The air conditioning was a bit basic, it did the job (which was just as well as 30C+ outside), but had no 'low' setting. Hence I had to turn it off overnight as it was too noisy. The room stayed reasonably cool tho, perhaps helped by being on a low floor? Outside road was busy but the windows dd their job so I didn't hear any of it.
Good spread for breakfast with the option for freshly cooked eggs.
The bar had a nice ambiance and, as with all the hotel staff I met, the staff there were very friendly too.

Dear Doob 123,

Thank you for your comprehensive review.

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us! You have covered all aspects of your stay and we are particularly appreciative about your comments on our staff, and breakfast.
Please accept our sincerest apologies for the Air Conditioning issue you experienced. We did indeed have a problem that took a couple days to completely repair. With the extreme heat we have seen in Tel Aviv for some time now, we understand the discomfort this caused you. Again, we do apologize and regret that this impacted your experience at our hotel.

We strive to give great and impressive service to all of our guests and it makes us happy to read we exceeded your expectations.
We look forward to welcoming you back to our establishment.
Once again thank you for the wonderful and kind words of praise.

Sincerely yours,

I've been to Crowne Plaza Tel Aviv (Hayarkon street) twice, in May and July 2012.
The hotel is old, services of low quality and poor and unfriendly service.
The first time I was staying on the 8th floor (executive or Crowne rooms) which are renovated and all in all not that bad. The lower floors though (like the 2nd), where the supposedly Deluxe rooms are located, have very old and smelly rooms. The carpets in the hall are dirty and this is the first bad impression. The noise from the street is very loud and the maintenance people always leave the windows open, allowing the humidity to come into the room. I had to change rooms twice. Once the Air Conditioning wouldn't turn on and the room has a sewage smell. The second one, because the Air conditioning wouldn't turn off!! If you consider that the prices are between 165-350 $ this is definitely not an advised accommodation.

Room Tip: 8th/9th floor rooms are better and less noisy. Take a room with sea view at least...

We booked Crown Plaza Tel Aviv as Superior accommodation in conjunction with a tour we were taking. We stayed there three separate times in three different rooms over two weeks. First room was a suite, not refurbished and well worn. Next two times were standard rooms that had been refurbished, that means a lick of paint and new flooring. Bathrooms a bit gritty and fixtures hard to work due age and corrosion. Common area of hotel are nice. Breakfast and lounge meals very good. Most staff friendly and helpful. Location is great on the promenade.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room.

Nice and quite big room with a view over the beach. However, the carpet was very dirty and out telephone didn't work. The house keeping was also quite bad. Ex. we didn't get new soap and clean glasses, and when we ordered in room dining they didn't pick up the dirty plates for after 48 hours!  Furthermore we didn't see many smiles among the staff. When we asked the concierce to order a taxi to Jerusalem we had to wait for 50 min (it seemed as the the concierce just called a friend, not the taxi agency).

We stayed next door on an earlier trip and had to rent 2 rooms as we had our 10 & 4 yr old with us. When we returned to the same hotel a day early, they could not accommodate us with 2 adjoining rooms. As we had parked our car (legally), we went next door to the Crown Plaza to see what we could do there.

The night manager, Lad was very understanding and helpful! He offered us a family room at a reasonable rate.... Half of what we would have paid next door for 2 rooms and Free Internet! He also found out our flight was early in the morning. On our second night and offered to have 4 box meals waiting at the front desk. They were waiting and were better than some of the resturants we visited.

Great location, great service and good value.

Room Tip: We viewed 2 and choose the one that fit us best as a family of 4.

This time I travelled alone and only stayed for 2 nights. I was fortune that now I am a platinium Member of the priority club I received a nice room upgrade to the recently refurbished 13th floor. I could not fault the standard of this room although there did not seem to be any evening turndown service. Once again the breakfast choice was great with the food displays replemished throughout the morning.
The staff in the business lounge were kind and friendly. The lift from the 13th floor does not go up to the 15th floor so it is necessary to walk up to the lounge. Although a temporary lounge there was a good choice of snacks and business services available.
I previously visited in early April and it was nice that staff recognised me as a returning guest throughout the hotel.
