“Funky and fun experience”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

This was a somewhat long cab ride from our hotel but it was worth the effort for a unique experience. The ambiance was unique. You are sitting right over a busy food market. The tables are clustered around an open bar and you can look right into the kitchen. Our waitress was terrific! The food was delicious and the prices were moderate. What more can one ask?

“A Kitchen Filled with Market Goodness”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

Taking its cue from the fresh food market below, Kitchen Market offers creative plates with delicious results. Porchini brulee with prosciutto and parmesan flakes melts in the mouth; cherry tomato gaspacho with a bit of yogurt forms a creamy base for a tableau of fresh vegetables, and the lamb compote is slow cooked in red wine for a luscious taste. The atmosphere is hip and vibrant, with views of the Tel Aviv port and the farmers market. Service is friendly but slows down when the place is busy. Definitely a must-try for those foodies visiting Tel Aviv.

“Loud and lousy”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

Was excited to try this place out in the old port area. Landed up sitting in a room that was either a private room with a very large table in the middle of the room or it was a section of the restaurant. The first thing when we sat down there was a private party sitting around this table. They were loud in a small room and that was bearable. The problem got worse when the started singing. Nothing worse than trying to eat dinner whilst having to be stuck with no place to go listening to 15 people singing away all out of tune. It was a painful experience with the noise and the singing. When we confronted the manager his comment and I quote. " they are not bad people" I never insinuated they were but was trying to express the fact we wanted to eat dinner and were not invited to the party but landed up in the same room along with a few other uninvited guests.

The food was not great but I think the issue was they were so intent on the actual presentation of the food that they forgot to focus on the quality of the food. Cannot fault them on their food presentation it was pretty cool. The food was sub par and the kicker was the high prices of the food. Had the quality being as good as the presentation then it would have been different.

I suppose the noise factor, the average food and the crazy high prices just did not sit well and the evening was not that memorable. I am sure it was a bad night and the food my very well be far better than I may have had. I think there are so many more up and coming better places to try than me going back here again.

“I could have been in a perfect NYC restaurant”
Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I happened on this gem of a restaurant on Fri night. Ask for Amir from Boston - he took great care if us while we were there - excellent wine and food recommendations and just enough chit chat without being intrusive. Had the foie gras egg - crazy concoction - Yossi the chef is a genius!! It looked and felt like an actual egg and the mango "yolk" is delicious as can be. Finished off with some excellent desserts as well. Everything was spot on and at a great price. I felt like I was back in NYC at a top new restaurant there. If you can't get a window seat have no fear - the view of the market and the smaller room has a nice cozy feel to it. Going back there tonight with friends once more before we leave!
