We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of our Israeli friends who know the chef and the owner personally. One needs to know the address to give it to the taxi driver because this restaurant has no outside sign that I could see. It is in a very modern building and the restaurant itself is very modern. The menu was short but, in my view, this is better than having a menu with a hundred choices. Our food was terrific - the appetizers, the salad, and the main dishes (sos bucco and filet mignon. We asked the wine steward for recommendations and her choice of wine was excellent for our meal. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food, the setting, and the service. The same meal would cost you at least twice as much in the US.

This is the first time we had the opportunity to eat at Haim Cohen's relatively new restaurant, and what an amazing treat it was! We sat at the bar and watched the professional staff at work in the open kitchen. While a bit on the "cozy" side, the place is lively and refreshingly unaffected. The service was marvelous. The utensils, linen and dinnerware were top flight. Our waitress was lovely and knowledgeable.

Moreover... the food... It was simply outstanding. The foccacia rivaled the best in the world. The main courses were impecably prepared and were of only the freshest, finest quality. I love lamb chops and kabobs and they were simply the best I've tasted in years. The fish was also outstanding, seasoned with an unusual combination of spices that excited one's palate.

We always opt to drink local wines - wherever we are in the world. And Israel has some excellent vineyards from which to choose. The selection here was limited but well chosen. What we ordered was delicious and poured elegantly into the appropriate Reidel stemware.

For dessert we shared the recommended house speciality - the knafeh - a concoction typically sickeningly sweet and gooey in most standard eating establishments. But this, being an exceptional restaurant, presented a crisp, perfectly delectable course.

While not inexpensive, the food, service and atmosphere were so outstanding that we feel like we discovered a REAL FIND. What a joy! Hopefully the level will remain this consistently high. We will certainly be back on a regular basis.

I had 4 more visitis to Yaffo Tel-Aviv since my previous review. Two visits were for business lunch. They have special menu for lunch. The meal includes starter foccacia main course and soft drink at the price of the main course. Prices are a bit higher than 100. The deal is great, and the quality of food is as great as dinners.

We went there for dinner last night. We have two more couples joining us, and we tested most of the menu. The very high level of food certainly retained, but prices went up. For example, the beef flitet main went up from 145 Shekels to 175. New choices of steaks were added and they priced by weight. It is about 40 Shekels for 100 grams. Most of the starters are now 60+, but they do offer great Junam Salad that is only 38, and is really great. It is a brilliant combination of green leafs and shaved root vegetables with vineger sauce.

The change takes the restaurant to higher category of prices. It certainly offer value at this cost, but it is not clear cut as the initial pricing they offered. Is it the reason for some vacant tables during the evening?

Let me finish this review with reccomendation for wonderful new starter. It is calamari choped into rings grilled a-la-plancha and served over dlicious tomato sauce with okra (bamya) and sour cream - creative and delicious !!!

Sitting at the kitchen bar seemed risky at start, but was an excellent experience, chit-chatting with the chef and su-chef... And the food... the tortellini... the tuna... one of the best in TLV. Though expensive...

This new restaurant of the Chef Chaim Cohen is probably the best restaurant in town without all the extra bells of other places. I have been there more than 5 times and I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere every time. Don't miss the open Tabun in the entrance to the restaurant. The Manu is rich with innovative items that are made from basic and fresh ingredients. You cannot go wrong with any items of the menu and it is great to share. Do not miss the Knaffe for desert. Make reservations ahead of time. I will go again. RSTMN 9/10
