Food is generally superb at this group of restaurants (the Crispy Chicken "Vietnam" is the go-to for lunch/dinner, and the veg tempura is pleasant too), but the service at this one is generally very good. Although occasionally the attitude is a bit gruff from some of the servers, they tend to take good care of you.
The Israeli breakfast is the best in town. All Israeli breakfasts consist of salad, bread, cheeses, cream cheese, your choice of eggs, and two drinks. This one is served on lovely plates, the quality is high, and you feel like you're doing it in style.
I want to give it 5 stars, but my policy is to subtract two stars for venues that are cavalier about cigarette and cigar smoke. This place has both. They even have a smoking room during much of the week, from which much of the smoke drifts out. And the smoke from the patio makes it impossible to dine there - and it's the nicest spot in the restaurant. Besides which, they frequently leave the doors open and the smoke simply wafts in and poisons the patrons inside.
Montefiore: please get your act together. At the very least, keep those doors closed, and/or ban smoking at the tables right by the door. But some of us non-smokers would like to sit outside too. Why not have half the balcony non-smoking? There are two distinct sections; it wouldn't be that difficult. You have a committed patronage and you wouldn't lose any business even if you banned smoking altogether. Why don't you set an example for Israel with smoking, just as you do with your excellent quality service?
