“At Home in Tel Aviv”
Reviewed April 24, 2014

These are apartments, not hotel rooms. Large, airy, modern and very comfortable. Location is central to many sights. You are smack in the middle of the Bauhaus area at the Diaghilev. Take the time to wander the area looking at the architecture. It is a 20 minute walk to the beach, about a 15 minute walk to the train station if you insist on using public transportation to or from the airport. Kitchenette has sink, dishes, silverware and kettle. Nice flat screen tv with cable access. Front desk was very nice, very accommodating in making recommendations and reservations for dinner.

Will stay here again when next visting Tel Aviv.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a slightly larger room, which come with a balcony.

This hotel is fine if you are looking to rent a converted apartment, minimally furnished, for a night or two. It is not a boutique hotel. The bathrooms are tiny and feel like staying at a friend's apartment in New York City rather than a hotel. The sheets and towels seemed like they had been borrowed from neighbors. The towels were monogrammed with someone's initials. And when we turned the air conditioner on, a winter's worth of dust poured into the room and made us sick. For about 1/3 the price, it might be worth it to have a room to sleep in. But if you are looking for a true hotel, this is not it. On the plus side, the staff were wonderful.

This hotel is a little gem. Tucked away off Rothschild Boulevard but centrally located. The suites are large clean but basic. The staff cannot be more attentive and try to help in every way possible to ensure you have a good stay. My wife and I had a ten day holiday over the Easter/ Pesach holiday and for the money you really cannot beat it!
It also has basement car parking at extra charge but well worth it if you have a rental as parking in the street is almost impossible in Tel Aviv.

My stay at the Diaghilev was very pleasurable. An excellent location - a central yet quiet street in a very pleasant, trendy part of town. The service was also excellent - with knowledgable, charming staff members, and the apartment like suite was comfortable and private. It's a far cry from the more corporate, anonymous hotel towers by the beach.

Perfect spot to explore Tel Aviv, well-located and within walking distance of many sites/neighborhoods we wanted to visit. We were traveling with teenage children and the very large family suite was more than enough space and great value. The staff was incredibly helpful with recommendations for restaurants, activities or arranging taxis. Offering guests a drink upon arrival was another great added touch to welcome us. Would highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the family suites if traveling with children.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Diaghilev is a bohemian boutique hotel that offers an extraordinary and exceptional cultural experience intensified by an excellent personal service. The hotel features an art gallery exhibiting over 500 artworks that change every 6 months, unique and mostly radical decor items, a collection of hand made rugs from all over the universe, most of which are ancient and therefore reflect the aged cultures they originate from. The Diaghilev has recently established a HUB for Start-ups and integrates a wide activity in such fields as design, fashion and technology. The uniqueness of the hotel brought it into prominence among internationally acknowledged artist visiting Tel Aviv and the world of technology and start-up. Many employees of the leading corporations in the world choose the Diaghilev as their base in Tel Aviv. Built in the purest Bauhaus the Diaghilev invites its guests to experience a World Cultural Heritage site rich of hundreds of Bauhaus buildings and get a taste of the “White City.” Our uncommon nocturnal concept was designed taking account of a recent scientific research that showed evidence that black beddings cause intensive production of Melatonin hormone, which results in deeper sleep, stronger immune system and increased anti-aging effect. The Diaghilev is an eco-friendly hotel, committed to a continually expanding list of operating practices that aim to maintain minimal environmental impact. The toiletries at the Diaghilev are of outstanding quality. They are produced from natural materials created from plants cultivated for this purpose in the hills of Jerusalem. These products are produced and packaged at a small factory that employs people with disabilities and integrates them into the labor market. Our creativity-support concept lead to the establishment of the HUB - a shared work environment that is more than a physical workplace for creative entrepreneurs: It is designed to nurture a community in which creators will be able to collaborate with one another in order to produce innovative projects and initiatives. ... more   less
