“Looks Amazing”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

I found this hotel through Trip Advisor, but noone I knew had heard about it. A relative near Tel Aviv made the reservation. It is tucked into a relatively quiet street that is quite near the main drag...a perfect location. The artwork throughout and small gallery in the mezzanine are wonderful! We added one person to our room and it was no problem, as the room easily accommodates three (for an extra $50 per night). Juice, coffee and tea and biscuits were in the room, making a quick bite before taking off in the morning easy. I was surprised that a full breakfast was not included, as Israeli hotel breakfasts are well-known and fabulous...even at smaller, less glitzy hotels. On Shabbat, we received coupons for a free breakfast at a nearby hotel, and it was, as expected, amazing! (too bad I was the only one to use it, as it ends at noon and young adults are still sleeping or barely awake). The rain shower is lovely, the hot water is sufficient, and the robes are nice. The hair dryer is weak, so bring your own. The room was comfy, clean and quiet...what more do you need?

we came back to the Diaghilev with our grown up kids after spending there 3 great days last september. the information in the web sites did not prepare us to what we found: the hotel is beautifully desighed, in good taste' gives you a warm causy feeling. the suites are spacious, comfortable and very beautiful, with balcony to enjoy the city's atmosphere. the location is perfect, close to the "hart" of tel aviv and enables to walk everywhere (in tel aviv it is very important because the parking is hard to find). the private parking of the hotel was also very helpfull.the staff was very freindly and helpfull, and twice we got an upgaded room. we certainly found our place in tel aviv and plan to come back whenever we can.

Room Tip: a room with a balcony is recomended

I booked at the last minute directly with the hotel and even my tour guide commented to me that he had never heard of the hotel. I stayed with my 79 year old mother in law and we were made to feel welcome from the moment we stepped inside the hotel. We were offered champagne during check in and were pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded. I have stayed in many big name hotels in many countries for work and I was seeking something different for my own holiday and that is why I chose the Diaghilev. The next morning we went to ask about locations for breakfast and were again treated to a complimentary breakfast at their sister hotel that had just opened around the corner. Breakfast was delicious and service was excellent. It was a great experience and we both wished that we had more time to stay at the hotel and in Tel Aviv. If you are looking for a mainstream branded hotel this may not be for you, but the service at the Diaghilev was excellent and it was something special and different.

The staff was so unbelievably nice- from the moment we arrived and every time we stepped back into the lobby they asked if we needed anything, supplied us with bottled water, maps and advice.

The hotel itself defies description. There is art (for sale) all over the place including in the rooms. Aside from that, the furnishings, the soaps and the linens are luxurious and beautiful.

The location is on a residential block right near one of Tel Aviv's main arteries with cafes and restaurants and the beach is a 15 minute walk away. The hotel is extremely quiet and peaceful.

Guided here by TripAdvisor members, we found this highly rated property to be a great value in a great location but a little spartan and less than completely relaxing. My wife and I booked our two-night stay well in advance on the hotel’s website and, after clearing up an error (date of stay) on the hotel’s part only a week before the trip, arrived to a very friendly, accommodating young staff who upgraded us to a room (all are suites) on the fifth floor with balcony facing front and not back. The room, #506, was spacious but empty with only three pieces of furniture in the living room not counting whatever was bolted to the wall or the floor: dinette, sofa, small coffee table—that’s it. Bath and bedroom were spotless, a little tight (bed is full size) with nice design touches, e.g., loose black stones gathered under the sink and toilet to hide plumbing. Refrigerator and sink were present and useful for prepared take-home food as there is no stove. And since the Diaghilev does not now have an in-house kitchen, we were given coupons for a luxurious breakfast at a sister property, just opened, on Boul. Rothchild—which we were eager to explore for future visits since it feels luxurious and fleshed-out in a way the Diaghilev does not. All told, a great value in a city that lacks them, and especially good for businessmen who don’t mind the sparse digs or for small families who might want to take home food and use the dinette. Due to the scale and the surfaces and overall tone, however, we kind of felt we were stuck in a 1960’s era roadside motel on Interstate 80 that happened to keep art in its lobby and overlook the Tel Aviv skyline.

We took a room at the hotel without quite knowing what we were letting ourselves in for, but we extremely happy with the result! The presence of old Persian carpets in a modern hotel, and with art being displayed everywhere was enchanting. And we were absolutely delighted with our spacious suite where we immediately felt like being in a home away from home, so much so that we invited friends to join us for a bite. We also appreciated the thoughtful service - finding half a liter of fresh milk inthe fridge, and some cleaning materials for the - very styleful - dishes, as well as the help of the front desk when needed.
The bedroom was more simply furnished than the living room, but contained all we needed.
And the location is very convenient too, with easy access to many of Tel Aviv's attractions.
My only negative comment concerns the choice of black for sheets, towels and bathrobes. It makes for a somewhat gloomy look.
Altogether I strongly recommend a stay at the Diaghilev.
