We were in Tel Aviv for a combination of business and family visits. We loved staying at this hotel. It's perfectly located a couple of blocks away from Rothschild Blvd, with its wonderful restaurants, broad, shaded paths for strolling, and great people watching. The hotel itself is filled with art -- in the lobby, the gallery, the corridors and even in the rooms. The exhibition, hotelier Anat told us, changes every four months. The desk staff, many of whom are themselves artists, are very cheerful and welcoming. Our room was quite comfortable: a two bedroom suite with a large living room (+kitchenette with a hot water pot a and refrigerator) and one bathroom. It was perfect for us and our adult son to share. Diaghilev is in a residential neighborhood, and while it's not silent, it's much quieter than nosier thoroughfares near the beach. We found the location a perfect starting point for walks that ended up in Jaffa, Neve Tzedek, the "tayelet" (beach promenade) and along Dizengoff. Bottom line: great location, intriguing aesthetics, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, free wifi. It's terrific.

Dear lifeisadorable,

Thank you for sharing your recent experience with the TripAdvisor community!

It was great having you at the hotel and we are happy you enjoyed it.
We are doing our best to make our dear guest feel comfortable. We treat our guest with care and devotion. It is heartwarming that our efforts are being appreciated!
As you have mentioned, our suites are truly spacious - our smallest suite is 44m². Each one has its own structure and design. The design is constantly getting richer as it is gaining new elements from our changing exhibitions which you shouldn't miss. Every time you visit us, you will find something new.

We would love to see you again,
The Diaghilev Team

we stayed in a one bedroom apartment with a balcony overlooking the city.We arrived by car and had prebooked a car space which is essential as there is no street parking available. The staff are really very helpful-no matter what your request,be it restaurants, galleries or directions. The little kitchen is great for coffee or snacks and being able to keep food in a small fridge is wonderful. The balcony is also pleasant for enjoying the views. The room was cleaned daily to a high standard.

Huge rooms by any European standard and a fantastic location to walk around nice neighborhoods and easy to get to transit. Owners have opened a new hotel a few blocks away so there is a great breakfast connection plus many many more restaurants close by. The rooms are actually like apartments and the beds and linens very nice. We all thought it was the best choice. The staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful and cookies, mimosas, and espresso seem to be always available.

Dear traveler07030,

Thank you for your flattering review!

We are happy the location of the hotel made it easy for you to explore our vibrant city.
Our staff is there for you 24/7 ready to recommend or share a piece of advice.

As to our unique black bedding concept, for the sake of TripAdvisor community I would like to add a few words about it:
The concept is based on a recent scientific research according to which black bedding cause intensive production of Melatonin hormone. This results in deeper sleep, stronger immune system and increased anti-aging effect.

By the way, we have plenty of cookies, mimosas, and espresso. Come back!

Best regards,
The Diaghilev Team

We did not actually stay here. We had heard such good things about this hotel that we stopped by to take a look. While sitting in the lobby, we were approached by a lovely young lady. We struck up a conversation with her. Halfway through the conversation, we realized that she is Anat, the owner of the hotel. We told her that we had just come to take a look, and we added that whenever we visit Israel we stay with relatives. Nonetheless, she offered to show us one of the rooms. It was spacious and lovely, and it felt like home. We asked, Are all rooms like this? She responded by showing us a couple more rooms. Each room is unique, although they all share typical vistas of Tel Aviv. We marveled at the contemporary art and the self-made furniture and the carefully chosen linens (and much more). Anat then got us some good strong coffee and tasty cookies, all on-the-house. As we left, we saw Anat assisting newly arrived guests with their luggage.

Forget all those big resort hotels on the beach. The Diaghilev is definitely the place to stay! It's your home away from home. It is also the quintessential Tel Aviv experience.

For more than 1,000 Israeli Shekels (without breakfast!!!),
I would expect to have facial tissue in the room instead of using toilet paper.
In addition, there wasn't any body lotion or conditioner in the room.
When I complained in the reception, the answer was: "We don't have it".
I paid lots of money to be spoiled but didn't get what I expected.
From the other side, the Cava bottle that waited for us in the room was excellent and the bed was very comfortable.

Dear Inbal M,

I was very much saddened to read your review but I wasn't surprised as The Diaghilev, LIVE ART boutique hotel didn't seem to be the correct choice for your expectations from the very moment of booking.

When you called our front desk, you told you were looking for a resort hotel. Therefore you were kindly suggested to book our new The Rothschild hotel that serves breakfast, has indulging towels and bathrobes of the highest quality, room service, luxurious design... You made your considerations and chose The Diaghilev

The Diaghilev is an extraordinary hotel, with unusual accommodation concepts. It attracts mainly international tourists rather than Israelis for a reason. Whenever I am being interviewed, I keep repeating that The Diaghilev is not a resort hotel in the Israeli sense of the word: It is not for exhausted to death parents, wishing to escape their daily routine that were lucky enough to find a short term babysitter for their kids. all they want is to be a king for a day or two. The hotel is not suited to the Israeli mentality, to which I am very familiar of course - I am Israeli and I do have kids.
The Diaghilev is about art, authentic handmade rug collection from all over the world, special and unique design, spacious suites etc. The Diaghilev is for those people who know to appreciate its surprising combination, for those who come to explore the country in general and our vibrant city in particular. They are glad they don't need a cab to reach anywhere. Everything is in a walking distance. They are excited to be surrounded by artworks and they love our unique black bedding.
The hotel is honored to accommodate artist, curators of art galleries and museums around the world, managers from different branches, writers, stage directors, comedians etc. We have often guests from the high-tech scene as well.

You of course have the right to express your opinion, we appreciate constructive criticism. By the way, I would like to inform you that tissue dispensers are ready for installation. We constantly add facilities and improve our services. Striving to the top is an endless process - sky is the limit.

Wishing to please you, I would like to offer the following:
50% discounted rate for one night at the prestigious The Rothschild Hotel, Tel Avivs' Finest.

If you would like to take me up on that offer, you are kindly asked to contact me through this email address. It would be my pleasure to provide you with further details.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Avi Ifrach,
The Owner

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Diaghilev is a bohemian boutique hotel that offers an extraordinary and exceptional cultural experience intensified by an excellent personal service. The hotel features an art gallery exhibiting over 500 artworks that change every 6 months, unique and mostly radical decor items, a collection of hand made rugs from all over the universe, most of which are ancient and therefore reflect the aged cultures they originate from. Built in the purest Bauhaus the Diaghilev invites its guests to experience a World Cultural Heritage site rich of hundreds of Bauhaus buildings and get a taste of the “White City.” Our uncommon nocturnal concept was designed taking account of a recent scientific research that showed evidence that black beddings cause intensive production of Melatonin hormone, which results in deeper sleep, stronger immune system and increased anti-aging effect. The Diaghilev is an eco-friendly hotel, committed to a continually expanding list of operating practices that aim to maintain minimal environmental impact. The toiletries at the Diaghilev are of outstanding quality. They are produced from natural materials created from plants cultivated for this purpose in the hills of Jerusalem. These products are produced and packaged at a small factory that employs people with disabilities and integrates them into the labor market. Our creativity-support concept lead to the establishment of the HUB - a shared work environment that is more than a physical workplace for creative entrepreneurs: It is designed to nurture a community in which creators will be able to collaborate with one another in order to produce innovative projects and initiatives. ... more   less
