“Hidden treasure in Tel aviv”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

Every year in july i take a week end in Crowne Plaza , this summer it was overbooked and thats why i chose Gilgal hotel in Tel Aviv , located 200 meters from the seashore in a silent street (Nes ziona) .The atmosphere is charming , poems on the walls , modern decoration , clean rooms , and the feeling of family hosting . the breakfast on the sundeck with a view to the seashore is a perfect beginning of a vacation in Tel aviv. the hotel is not recommended to heavy smokers

I was in Tel-Aviv in 2010 for two days. I was with a football team as a journalist. And the place to stay was just the right choice.

Close to the seaside, but, at the same time, on a quiet street. Beautiful interior and clean rooms. And also two little tables outside of the hotel for pleasuring Tel-Aviv evenings.

Enjoy!

I booked the Hotel Gilgal simply because the usual hotels I stay in were fully booked and there was very little else available in the big hotels that dominate the sea front. The hotel is set back from the beach a couple of streets in, no more than a slow 5 minute walk. The street itself is quiet even though it's just off Ben Yehuda. The hotel entrance has a few chairs / tables outside and it's pleasant to sit there. Bright modern reception with a large water feature. First impressions are good. It was Shabatt when I arrived and the receptionist was typically not bothered with anything but this is the norm in my experience. Having said that every other time i walked though reception everyone always smiled and said good morning etc, so perhaps this guy was the exception. 50 rooms, all looking pretty similar. Purpose built as a hotel, simple clean and comfortable inside the rooms. Great shower with decent presure and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was my only negative point - Israel is known for the fantastic breakfast but this was a fairly limited one in comparision - still ok but with all the fresh produce available I would have expected more fresh fruit and salads.

Overall - if you don't want to break the bank but also need to be sure you get a reasonable quality, clean, safe and very central, then this is a good bet. Free wi-fi too.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room high up and towards the back of the hotel to be sure of peace and quiet (ther...

hotel is located 2 minute walk from the beach, an 1 minute from Ben-Yehuda St. which is great with a lot of restaurants.
Rooms are decent, nice and clean. Service is perfect, and breakfast is also OK.

Convenient but needs some improvements. Has the potential of becoming a charming hotel. Rooms are too basic and rather noisy. Breakfast, not serving enough fresh food and very little choice at the buffet. Should invest in a decent coffe machine.

This is the not the kind of hotel to get all excited about, as most of the amenities are quite average. Certainly not bad, but not exceptional. What makes this hotel a good experience, is the location, and the friendly service of the staff. From the hotel you are literally one block from the promenade, putting you really in the middle of everything. And the staff are great, extremely helpful. So with all this, yes, this hotel is good place to stay!

Good value hotel very close to the beach (La mer beach) and recently built (2008). Nice lobby and clean rooms, though on the small side and quite basic. Friendly staff. Good if you are on a budget
