“An extraordinary value for the buck”
Reviewed May 20, 2010

Galileo was a very nice surprise. Lots of care are paid to the details of the rooms that are decorated with reproductions of classic paintings. They put a little tea-kitchen and even a little Fridge in your room. We even had a little Jacuzzi (ok, it's rather small but we did appreciate the concept).
Beach is at a 7 min walk, and its surrounded by all the shops you may need.
ah and the breakfast was another classy touch, coffee and croassant at a nearby organic shop.
I do appreciate when a business tries to add a nice touch. The most suprising thing is that it isn't really expensive!!

We were at the Galileo for 3 nights- my sister and her sister-in-law were there for 2 nights. The location is fantastic-- especially for the Purim Holiday. Our "cab" driver had a hard time finding it; he was basically a guy at the airport who drove us in his car then demanded 4 x what it should have cost-- don't pay ANYMORE than $30 one way for a car! A real taxi from Jaffa was cheap and he found it right away- and took us to the airport the next day with his brother in another cab and both cabs were only $50!
The hotel is small and old- the jacuzzi rooms are not worth it they are old and basically a corner bathtub- but the balcony is nice. The rooms are small and the outlets fried 6 converters! 2 in our room and 4 in my sister's room. Our room was at the top of the stairs (no elevator) and hers at the end of the hall- her room didn't have a balcony but it was much larger. The bar next door is great and the neighborhood I thought great, although when my husband ventured out after I went to bed and got lost- I went to find him and the lady at the front desk said, "this isn't the most luxurious neighborhood- be careful!" Luckily I found him quickly, but we never felt unsafe- even out late into the night. Israel is an awesome country and this was a fine place for a few nights so long as you aren't expecting any type of luxury except a tv and bed. The wifi didn't work. The staff was nice.

It's not a boutique hotel and we didn't expect it to be...it's a budget hotel; one notch above hostel status.

The hotel is located in a great funky area; good for younger minded people....might be considered a bit dodgy if you are on the conservative side (lots of people relieving themselves on the streets around this hotel and the streets smell like it!). The rooms are a bit old and tired.

The Galileo is a good place to stay for a night but you might want something nicer for a longer term stay. There are great little bars right next to the hotel. The room was very quiet, we didn't hear any noise from the bars below.

The bathroom had a tub and curtain which was great as it meant our bathroom floor didn't get soaking wet all the time....funny how this is a huge plus in Israel.

Some of the desk staff were very friendly, some were completely unfriendly or bothered that we interrupted their web surfing with a question. There is a small parking lot behind this motel that charges between 25-40NIS per day depending on which sign they put up that day.

For breakfast you get a voucher for a coffee and pastry from a nearby coffee house.

We stayed here in mid-October 2009 in room 108. The room, though a bit small appeared to have been freshly pinted - in a baby blue and was comfortable. We paid a few extra bucks to have a jacuzzi room which is worth it if you like hot bubblt water. The jacuzzi worked well. The only problem was that when I attempted to let out the water, it started coming up through the drain on the floor. With quick thinking, I through a towel over th edrain and stood there on the towel motionless untill all the remaining water went down the drain, therby avoiding certain disaster. The hallways are a bit tired looking with a dark red color scheme throughout. This place certainly would not meet US fire codes though due to the narrowness of the area near the front desk which you must pass through to get to the stairs which will take you - and heavy luggage upstairs. A/C worked great, beds were comfortable, staff was acceptionally nice and though there is no breakfast, you get a voucher for a pastry and a cup of coffee at a nearby coffee house, which is actually quite nice. Make sure you ask for it though. I had heard about the noise issue and requested a room away from the bar next door and this worked out well. I do not remember terrible amounts of noise and the war was, indeed, hoppin' till all hours. The room had a small but lovely balcont as well.

This small motel is located pretty much in the center of Tel Aviv, so the location is great.
unfortunately, the room we got had the size of a small storage room. If all you need it to put your head at nights, and shower in the mornings, than it fits the price which was about 70-80$ for a room in one of the jewish holidays. We as a couple, needed a little bit more space, and the toilet which included the shower was too small, the room's size is something you could arrgue, but the shower's size was terrible.
Other than that, the room had a constant smell of mold, it was located above a restaurant or a bar, so there was a lot of noise during the night.
Bottom line, only if you are tight in budget..or you wouldn't mind all of the above.
off course, the other rooms may be better from the we got, so this review is regarding our personal experience.

The hotel is right in the middle of everything. The rooms are quite nice and the staff are relatively helpful. If you can spend a bit more and maybe head towards the sea, to get somewhere with a nice view I would, but this hotel is pretty good for the price.

Don't believe what Lonely Planet says on this hotel. The only thing that I save is location: the hotel is indeed is in the centre and, yes, people at reception are usually friendly.
But for the rest there's nothing attractive in this hotel. The air conditioned didn't work right, the room was small and not clean, there is not a breakfast hall in the hotel (you have to go in a bar nearby)...
