Still trying to figure out how this place became so famous.
After reading all the reviews I have expected so much more. Whole meal was average, nothing special and very disappointing in many aspects: some dishes were not fresh (shrimps were powdery and tasteless), slow service, very poor risotto and very expensive wine list.
We will never return to this place as it was over-priced with average food and bad service.

A relatively small place with tables and a bar. The feel is almost tavern like. Dim lighting, people moving around, smiling. I sat at the bar which I must recommend if you like watching food being prepared, almost like a sushi bar, as your dishes are passed over to you.
The dishes are unique, refreshing and beautifully presented yet not snobbishly sparse.
Keep in mind that Shila is known for the freshest ingredients, especially fish and seafood. Go for the fish tartars, one of which comes wrapped in a thin layer of beet root, which is absolutely spectacular. Try to order as many of their smaller dishes as you can. These are what makes Shila so special.
Shila combines fresh ingredients with creative and delicious preparation. Take your time, order some good wine, and enjoy.

Sharon cohen is a geneius. Every dish from starters to mains was perfect. Try the tartar wrapped in avocado ! . the wine list is well constructed and any one can find a wine that fits him. In one word: perfect

Ate there a couple of times, honestly don't know why I came back.
Yes, the seafood dishes are good (not great), the meat ones are dry and boring.
Had to wait 30 min for our table (we ordered it a week in advance!)
The restaurant was so noisy I couldn't hear my own thoughts and the service was very very slow, felt like they were doing us a "favor", not their job.

Paid 145$ per person (didn't order deserts nor wine, and not including the tip)

Overall very disappointing.

A really great place to eat, and the food was simply the best I have ever had! Highly recommend. Tasty salads and perfectly prepared meat!
