“Amazing Past and Present”

Herodyon National Park
Reviewed January 17, 2013

Past - Herod's city has been excavated thoroughly and is fascinating even if one is not an Archeology freak. Present - looking around, especially towards the south, it is evident how the Israeli settlements are engulfing the Palestenian villages with a clear message as to the area's political future. Whether you like this or not (I don't) - hard to miss.

It's not the best National Park in Israel and if you are so close to Jerusalem anyway, why not just spend more time in the amazing sites in Jerusalem?

Herod's palace on a mountain.. Probably the mountain Jesus was referring to when he said.. believe you can move mountains.. as that is just was Herod did.. and why it has remained more in tact than most of the other ancient sites.

A wonderful place and the history is enjoyable. You can see it from a distance and looks amazing. It seems like a lot of walking on a hot day, but inside your protected from the sun.

Really fun to be seeing a man-made hill where you can live inside. We enjoyed seeing the place inside and out. Be warned that it can be hard to bring a stroller, and that bringing a wheel chair around basically is not possible.

Great view from the top.

Good little trip from Jerusalem.
