We stayed at the Prima Royale for 2 nights in April 2006.The hotel is smallish and tucked away down a quiet side street.
The hotel which was previously known as The Windmill was bought and renovated by the Prima group of hotels. For the most part the renovation has been quite succesful although there are some signs it was done on the cheap. The public areas especially the hallways and dining room seem to have merely been given a quick coat of paint and to be honest are a bit dingy. The rooms on the otther hand were pleasant and well furnished and included very comfortable beds with quality linens and duvets.Bathrooms are compact but nicely decked out with designer sinks. We stayed in the "suite"rooms which are slightly larger than the standard rooms with a sofa included. It was worth the extra $25.00 per night for the extra space.
Breakfast was included in the price.I don't feel I am able to pass comment on the regular breakfast as we stayed just before Passover and the hotel was serving special Passover food for breakfast and not the standard selection. From all appearances I am sure the breakfast would be the usual large Israeli selection of cheeses, salads, fish and eggs.
The position of the hotel is excellent.A 10 minute walk in one direction brings you to the lovely neighbourhood of Emek Refaim with its tempting array of cafes and restaurants(Try Caffit for lunch,Burger Bar for great burgers and grills and Olives or YoJa for dinner)A 10 minute walk in the other direction takes you into the heart of the city.
The lobby and reception area are small but pleasant. We found the staff helpful and obliging. There are certainly fancier hotels in Jerusalem but the Prima Royale represents good value for money in an oustanding location.I would not hesitate to stay there again.

The location of this hotel is wonderful, within walking distance of the Old City, YMCA etc.

The hotel has recently be renovated and probably changed ownership. The food is good but all else needs work. The phones do not work properly. No in room coffee. The sheets are too short. There are no shower caps, tissues or bath mats for an extraordinarily slick tub. When I complained the staff was most cooperative and bought all I requested and then sent me goodies every night.

All the appliances are new in an Italian style but the management needs to improve.
Too bad this could be a marvelous hotel.
When I was there it was full of tour groups, so maybe they don't care about individual guests.
