10-15 minuts far from jaffa gate by walk in Jerusalem West.
Good hotel with a good price/quality relationship. To consider if you travel to Jerusalem

I am a stickler for spacious hotel rooms. This was not, but it was highly comfortable because of the attention to detail and excellent layout. Amazing value, marvelous Israeli serivce at its best, great breakfast buffet.

The Prima Royale is a drab, very basic hotel in an excellent location (just of King David Street) for exploring the Old City and a beautiful new mall. The rooms are clean but very very small. I was traveling solo and the bathroom was way to small for me. I know the couples I was traveling with had a difficult time. The food was just so-so and the same every morning, but where else would you find a pianist playing show tunes at 7 a.m.? I had occasion to call on the staff for assistance and found them very friendly and accommodating.

This hotel is a set of dichotomies. The rooms have been renovated, the furnishing is nice and modern, lovely fabrics. The bed left a lot to be desired and I had an aching back for the whole time I was there. The TV was great, with almost non-stop films in English, plus BBC world and other news channels. The bathroom was pokey, and although the sink was new and modern, the old bath - complete with a bit of rust - was so tiny I had to sit rather than lie in it. Hairdryer had as much power as a bumblebee! Aircon was useful, and the views over Jerusalem were good.

The food in the restaurant at night was like school dinners. I really wouldn't recommend it. Sadly, it was all paid for and so I felt compelled to eat it. It was buffet style and food came out at 7 and remained there until 10. The hotel is also kosher, and the evening restaurant is 'meat' - so you can;t have a coffee with milk at the end of your meal, or butter on your bread for instance. This takes some getting used to if you are not kosher yourself. It also means you start craving cheese! Breakfast is 'milk', so don;t expect a bacon sarnie!! Breakfast was quite good - esp the pancakes.

I found most staff quit abrupt and was constantly encouraged to visit the gift shop, which I didn't like. The bar is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. A medium sized bottle of water cost £4 - across the road at the supermarket, the same bottle cost 60p!

The lobby area is nice, and the hotel is well located near two other large hotels if you fancy a change. It's also within easy walking distance to Jaffa Gate and the old city.

I wouldn't choose to stay here again, but I didn't have a bad stay.

(PS try to get a room not near the lift - which is particulalry noisy!)

We stayed here with a large group in mid-June of 2009. The front desk staff was surly, the rooms were small, the internet was pricey, the "fitness center" was scary, the Shabbat buffet caused dysentery among us, and housekeeping was not on par with similar hotels we stayed in on this trip. The redeeming feature is the location--close to the Old City in a pleasant residential neighborhood. If you're here on Shabbat, purchase ramen at the gas station down the street and heat it up with your coffee maker--anything to avoid the inedible buffet. As for exercise--take a nap instead. The "fitness club" had mold on the walls, a few random weights and tables, and the original stationery bike.
