We spent five nights at the Prima Royale. The location was fabulous and was within an easy walk to the Jaffa Gate. Initially our room was too small for three people and we had to upgrade it to a suite. The bathroom was small, but very adequate. It took a while to figure out the shower without flooding the bathroom. The room was clean and towels were plentiful. The breakfast buffet was excellent. A huge plus was meeting and chatting with the other hotel guests.

I first stayed here five years ago. I found the accommodations very good then and I found them very good on this trip. During my 14 day stay the maid service was uneven. Although always put back in order sometimes the room was not fully serviced: toilet paper not replaced, afternoon snack sometimes missing, sheets not changed regularly. However these events did not spoil my stay. Breakfast was consistently good although little variance from day to day. Since the number of offerings were significant that did not matter overall. There is a certain charm about this hotel that I don't think can be found in a much larger hotel. Compared to other Jerusalem hotels the price is right. That's not to say that this hotel is inexpensive. But compared to other hotels nearby and its location, it is a bargain.

Room Tip: American beds are larger and therefore a double in this hotel makes even a short person like me wond...

Stayed here for a conference for 9 days in June, and generally it was great - rooms were clean and good size, and the breakfasts and dinners were fantastic. I did have a few minor issues while here though - the in-room safe decided to change its combination one day (I had things in there and had set the combination) and had to be re-opened by the staff (this also happened to several others in my party), and television was incredibly temperamental and didn't work some days at all, and the internet was slow and incredibly expensive. Their website said that there was free wifi in the lobby and paid access in the rooms, but the lobby access was also paid, and all of it was really expensive. Having said that, there are a couple of great cafes with free wifi two blocks down the road (on Keren HaYesod - go out to Keren HaYesod and turn right, walk down into the next block) that were even open on Shabbat, and they didn't seem to mind us all turning up to leach their wifi while very slowly sipping coffees for hours! Location is great, a relatively easy walking distance to the Old City and to Ben Yehuda, and the staff were helpful (if a little surly!) organising taxis for day trips, getting to the airport, etc. The rooftop bar/lounge area is a nice touch as well!

This relatively inexpensive hotel has superb amenities, from fresh fruit and chocolate delivered daily to one's room to the plush bathrobes they provide. Situated close to the center of the city and to the Van Leer Institute, its locale is delightful, with parks and residential areas all around. The breakfasts (included) are excellent, with a considerable selection of fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs, cheeses of all sorts, humus, quiche... Dining is accompanied by a piano player who looks like he just stepped out of the Algonquin Hotel in New York. It was memorable; the staff was helpful. Above all, the price is right for travellers on a budget.

Room Tip: I do not know what sort of tip would work toward getting a "better room." I suspect it is...

Rooms are not big but ok and clean. Staff is very businesslike which is ok. Breakfast is great, adding value with the piano player and the terrace. Feom this location you are at walking distance from the Old City and Jaffa street area for the restaurants.
