“Allenby bed and breakfast. super close to the bus station”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

I stayed at the Allenby 2 bed and breakfast. It is literally round the corner of the central bus station. Dan Flax the owner, was friendly, helpful. You can use the kitchen (except at breakfast time). It is also extremely near the light train which goes along Jaffa Road. I had a nice room with breakfast. when I went the weather was exceptionally cold, yet my room was very warm and cosy. If you are wanting an upper class 5 star hotel with 5 star prices, then this is not for you. However, if you want a clean, warm room then I would suggest it. It is nice sharing a breakfast table with one people from all over the world. I had a room with a bathroom, I especially booked that. there are rooms with sharing bathrooms. I would rather pay the difference for a en suite bathroom. But I guess that is my own personal preference. Breakfast is fruit juice, tea coffee, egg and toast and a toasted sandwich. I found that adequate for me personally. I guess that also depends on how much one eats. Definitely recommended.

Room Tip: I would suggest a bathroom en suite, even if you have to pay extra. I personally like the room I had...

We stayed there only for three nights and we really enjoyed it. Danny is a great host. We really liked the family atmosphere, eating breakfasts together, meeting other guests and participating in the Sabbath dinner. The place is not fancy but it is comfortable and clean. We would love to return to Jerusalem one day and certainly we would like to stay at Danny's place.

Room Tip: I don't know about other rooms but the room outside in the garden is very small and loud. It can...

It's a wonderful place, a garden with blossomed trees and flowers even during winter. Danny is a VERY good and kind man. He will help you to find what ever you want in the city and he's very polite and hospitable. I like everything here, really.

Room Tip: In room № 3 you may see an orange tree and a lemon tree with a lot of fruites even instead of winter...

I stayed for 3 nights at Dan's Bed and Breakfast, and there was absolutely nothing to complain. The price - 50 $ a night - was adequate, the room was clean and was tidied every day. The free internet worked (except for one evening); Breakfast was fine as well: A fresh fruit salad, eggs, toast, etc. The location is central (close to the bus station) but not too lively in the evenings (at least in the immediate surroundings). I will come back again.

We stayed with Danny during a one-week trip to Jerusalem in September 2012. We reserved a separate studio apartment with its own bathroom and full kitchen for a very reasonable price. While the place is not fancy, it is comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the daily breakfasts, especially the tasty grilled breakfast sandwich and the chance to chat with other travelers from around the world (literally - US, Europe, Australia, Asia). The staff is very accommodating, and will try to feed you double portions of everything. Danny is full of travel tips and enthusiasm and will help you to make any trip reservations. We walked daily from the B&B to the Old City (35 minutes walk) and to the Mahane Yehuda market (15 minutes). The central bus station is right around the corner. We would recommend this spot to any traveler looking for a comfortable accommodation with local color at a reasonable price.

I recently stayed at Allenby B&B for two and a half weeks while touring Jerusalem. This is a charming restored old building in the center of Jerusalem. The accomodation is basic but if you look for central inexpensive accomodation, this is probably the best value in Jerusalem. Danny Flax treats his guests as family members and provides them many additional services such as information and reservations for the various attractions.

The owner, Mr Flax, was friendly, understanding, and took effort to make my trip pleasant. Location wise, it is fantastic. It is close to the central bus station and yet it is in a quiet neighbourhood. I slept well for all the 5 nights. It is home away from home. Simple setting with warmth atmosphere and very clean. Breakfast was great and meeting other travelers on breakfast table was even greater. One can walk to the old city via the interesting and famous road of Jaffa. I walked on this road numerous times and I enjoyed every bit of it. Or you can reserve your energy by taking the light rail metro to Old City (Jaffa Gate and Damascus Gate). There were many bus services to various parts of the city. There was a bus that goes right to the Dung Gate, which is the nearest to the Western Wall. Interesting market that is 10-15 minutes walk from Allenby. Overall, I would recommend staying in Allenby B&B. Cheers to Mr. Flax and his team of helpers who give their best!
