A Little House in the Colony
Ranked #14 of 60 Jerusalem B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 22, 2012

It was a delight to discover this place in the German colony near the Old City, Jerusalem. Close to restaurants and next to an Arthouse cinema and restaurant. Rooms are clean and sleeping was comfortable. It is located in a quiet street with a historic feeling to it. Breakfast was good and with fresh produce. Free internet available. Will definitely pay another visit to this gem!!!

Possibly the best value hotel in Israel!
Well located 30 minutes stroll from the Jaffa gate at the Old City and Mamila. There are some good restaurants just around the corner. The staff are friendly and speak good English. At this price don't expect luxury but the rooms are clean and comfortable and breakfast is adequate.
If you have a lot of luggage be aware that there are no elevators and reception is on the first floor. Also there is no parking so you need to stop your car outside (stopping the traffic as it is a narrow road) unload the luggage and then turn right and park the car in the free public car park (3 minutes walk back) on the left. Worked well for us so more of an inconvience than a problem.
If you take a taxi, make sure the driver knows which Little House hotel you want as there are others in the group nearby.
Great for a short stay while you do Jerusalem.

Room Tip: If you are 4 adults as we were, or a family, book the family rooms. These are two adjoining rooms ea...

Just got back from a 3 night stay in Jerusalem and found this B & B to be a easy and comfortable place to sleep and have a quick and easy breakfast. Located in the German Colony about 3 miles away from the Jaffa gate and in a beautiful neighboorhood. The B & B does not have an elevator and you do have to navigate 3 flight of stair to get up to check in and the rooms. The rooms are very small, but really all you need. They do have a private bathroom in each.

I would definitely recommend this hotel! It is located in a very nice neighborhood (German Colony), it's only a 25-minute walk to Jaffa Gate, the staff is quite nice and helpful, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The only complaint that I have is that they possibly serve the worst coffee I've ever tasted. Breakfast is not spectacular, but it's enough to give you energy for the morning. I'd stay here again, but I'd stop in the market and store some extra food in the fridge.

Yes, GREAT location, friendly and helpful people at the front desk, and an excellent price for Jerusalem. We also liked the simple, unpretentious atmosphere. A word of warning, though, you have to walk up a steep flight of stairs to get to the lobby and rooms. Not a problem for us to walk up and down, but not fun with heavy suitcases. There was no one to help us take them up when we arrived (fortunately my husband, in his 60's, is strong and in good shape!) but someone did help us take them down when we left. The room comes with breakfast which also makes this a pretty good deal. Not the best breakfast, but it adds to the value and convenience. Overall, a nice place to stay. The location is really good and in a nice walking neighborhood. Delicious restaurants close by, easy access to the Old City and other points of interest.

There are a lot of stairs and no one was available to help us with the suitcases when we arrived. Eventually the chef took pity on us and took one of the suitcases up. The breakfasts were very mediocre by Israeli standards and the eggs were recycled each day in a different guise. The room was adequate but dark and there was nowhere to put the luggage. There were blackout curtains but if the other curtains were drawn back to let in some light, the neighbours could also see into the room as there were no voiles to allow for some privacy and light at the same time. I was amazed that I managed to have a bath in such a small one - never seen one so small before. Beds were comfortable but sheets on one of them were too small to tuck in. The staff were pleasant enough.

Dear Sally,
Thank you very much for your review, it is greatly appreciated. We will do our best to improve our services.
That is correct, that we don't have an elevator in the hotel, which is mentioned on our website and sites of our partners. We would gladly build one, but the building must be preserved in its original state due to its architectural and historical value.
We understand that for some of our guests, it might be a problem to climb up all 31 steps. We are trying to have a strong male receptionist on duty after 14:00 (the check in time), but that is not always possible.
We provide Israeli breakfast, country style: simple but substantial. As for the curtains in the rooms, I will look to it at the first opportunity, although most of the hotel surrounded by trees, which guard the privacy of our guests better than any voile.
