Great place to get souvenirs and at the same time you get to see the ruins from earlier era.

You can see sections of the First Temple Period City Wall as well as segments of the city walls from both the First & Second Temple Periods.

After the Jewish quarter was destroyed in the war, archaeologists were able to excavate a huge area and found the Roman cardo - or colonnaded Main Street. They have left some as an excavation with shops up above, some had been reconstructed and some is a plaza open to the sky. Part is now a shopping mall...

The Cardo is the modern section of the old city shops. The stores there are beautiful, offer artisan quality Judaic art but are pricey too.

Its quite interesting to understand what are you looking at, and in the Jew quarter you can really go back in history and imagine how magnificent this road was.
