“Amazing Art, do not miss, So BEAUTIFUL.”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

The Chagall Windows are in the synagogue of the Hadassah Hospital. No pictures or filming are allowed though many people rudely ignored many announcements - respect the Synagogoue atmosphere if you cannot respect the fact that Marc Chagall asked that they not be photographed. They are actually painted glass panes and not stained glass as many people think. Much bigger than I thought but so very beautiful. Another Do Not Miss for your Jerusalem trip.

“Just the windows, but just beautiful”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

I'm so glad I made a special trip to the Hadassah Hospital in Ein Kerem to see Chagall's magnificent stained glass windows. It wasn't all that hard to get there, as 3 bus lines go directly to the hospital, one from a block away from my hotel. They charge a minimal admission, do not allow photography, and the only mementos available are postcards. But you do get a printed explanation and listen to a CD recording about the imagery in each window. And the hospital's website has even more information about the windows and the artist. I was surprised to find that many locals were not aware of this major art work in their city.

“Chagall Windows”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

The twelve stained glass windows by Jewish artist Marc Chagall are displayed at the Synagogue of Jerusalem's Hadassah Medical Centre.

The 12 stained glass ( abstract) panels depict the 12 tribes of Israel, based on Biblical accounts. A few of the windows had to be repaired by the artist after the 1967 war and he left a single bullet hole in the green window -- as a symbolic gesture.

These panels have been loaned to museums around the world and are one of the artist's most famous works. If you are in Jerusalem they are certainly worth a look. We combined this with our visit to Ein Kerem and the Church of the Visitation.

There is a fee to visit , which includes an excellent guided tour. Further details maybe found on the website.
