Owner description: The most panoramic view of Jerusalem, together with the Judean Desert, this is the perfect place to end the #99 bus tour, especially at the twilight hour, when the light gives real meaning to the description "Jerusalem of Gold."

A view from the Tayelet offers one the opportunity to learn the history of the city of Jerusalem and to see with your own eyes how the city developed from ancient times to the present. From this viewpoint one can see the Old City of Jerusalem, including the walls and the Dome of the Rock. As you take your eyes from the Old City, you can see new Jerusalem, many Arab villages and on a clear day even the Dead Sea. There are countless stories about wars and conflicts dating from ancient times to the present that all took place in and around Jerusalem. A knowledge of the history of Jerusalem would be extremely important or take someone who knows --either a friend or a guide--and this will be your very best introduction to Jerusalem .

The Haas Promenade is one of the best places to start a tour of Jerusalem. This panoramic viewpoint offers a sweeping view of the city and, in true Jerusalem fashion, is itself replete with thousands of years of history.

The promenade – popularly known in Hebrew as "the Tayelet" – actually comprises several walkways: the Walter and Elise Haas Promenade, the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Promenade and the Gabriel Sherover Promenade. From the heights of these landscaped walkways and parks, you can enjoy the full splendor of the city of Jerusalem spread out at your feet.

The rabbis of the Talmud claim that "ten measures of beauty descended to the world; nine were taken by Jerusalem and one by the rest of the world." An impressive boast, to be sure, especially by people who had most likely not seen much of the rest of the world – but to stand on Talpiot's Haas Promenade (Tayelet Haas) and see the Holy City spread out before you, caressed by the soft light of the Judean sunset, white stone glowing with subtle flame, would incline you to agree.

According to Jewish legend, it was from the location of today's promenade that God showed Abraham where one day his descendants would build their holy city, but the old nomad even in his wildest visions could not have foreseen the view that greets travelers today. At the center, appropriately enough, is the Old City, Dome of the Rock glinting in the sun. Beyond stretches the expanse of modern Jerusalem, a forest of white buildings and red cranes with the hills of Judea looming behind. Immediately below are several of the scattered Arab villages around the outskirts of Jerusalem, and dense groves of the Jerusalem pines that Naomi Shemer immortalized in "Jerusalem of Gold."

Haas promenade is part of the East Talpiot famous promenade(see Sherover promenade)Situated at only 4 miles from the city center it seems that arriving here you arraived to a total different city:the whole city is in front of you mainly the Old city, Mount Zion the Hebrew university and many more attractions.I think this place is not enough known to the public and to the tourists. No restaurants in the near vecinity and no souvenir shops are located here. All you se is a formidable panoramic view of Jerusalem. You can come day or night ,the view during the night is unbeatable.
