Owner description: The "Burnt House" is a magnificent structure that was discovered during excavations following the Six Day War. Watch an audio-visual presentation depicting the priestly Katros family during the end of the Second Temple period, as mentioned in the Talmud. “A must do to feel the impact of Jewish history”

Well done in a way you can feel as if it just happened. You walk through the event of the burning of Jerusalem from the 1st century w/ a short video at the beginning to set the stage for the walk through.

“Trashing something holy and special”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2012

This was a big disappointment. The exhibits are not well explained, and the movie is a hollywood soap-opera-esque caricature of a Pesach Seder. They spiritually trashed this very special site. If you have any respect for the holiness of Jerusalem and the Temple - Stay away!

“Worth a go!”

It was a hot day and this was a great place to soak up some history and see a short film depicting the scene surrounding the burnt house. Take the kids!

“Interesting speculative history but not what I expected”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2011

The burnt house is from the time of the Roman destruction of Jerusalem (70 AD) which in and of itself is fascinating. It is a very small site, basically one small room, and the main focus is the video presentation of an imagined family and their experience. If you don't know the history, it is a helpful entree into it, if you do, you might find this a little simplistic and/or too speculative. But probably not a bad introduction for those who don't know much about it, and I think would be enjoyable for kids.
