“A view from above”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

The walk is suitable for children, no strollers, no wheelchairs.
It starts from the Jaffas gate cost is symbolic and worth it.
The ways one exit the Nablus gate and cross the market to the other attraction.
or the Lion's gate towards Via Dolorosa or the chirches outside the wall (Russian, etc.)
Their is no shade, bring sunglasses, and lots of water.
The views are great, you get to see the old city from above and all around.
If you have only one day in Jerusalem, skipm if it's your second trip, or visit, and you have more then one day, it's definitely worth the time.

“good exercise and wonderful views”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

A unique way of seeing the Old City (from atop). You beat the crowds down below. The views inside the Old City and beyond the Old City are great. You get an interesting perspective walking on top of the walls. But it is a whole lot of stairs and uneven surfaces. Take a camera so that you can bring home lots of pictures. We did the long way and it took us over two hours but we took our time and stopped to take in the different viewpoints.

Bring lots of water, sunscreen and wear comfortable shoes. (I usually walk 2-3 miles a day at home but this kind of walking (i.e., uneven stairs, bumpy surfaces) made me sore and stiff the next couple of days. Well worth it though!

“Great views, peace and quiet”
Reviewed July 12, 2013 via mobile

Worth the small admission fee. Can enter near the Jaffa Gate. This allows you to see a large part of the city from above without all the crowds and commotion below. It is a great way to get an overview. You are essentially walking on top of the outside old city walls. As other reviewers noted this requires many stairs and offers little shade. I would visit again.

“A walk with great views of Jerusalem.”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

You can walk the walls of Jerusalem in two directions. There is an entrance at the Citadel, where you can walk around the armenian and jewish quarter until the Dunggate. There is also an entrance at the Jaffagate, where you wiil walk around the christian and muslim quarters until the Liongate. It is not possible to continue around the temple mount, beteween Lionsgate and Dunggate. We walked the Jaffagate version. There is much stairclimbing up and down involved and no shade at all. So take a lot of water with you on a sunny day, and take your time. After every corner you get other splendid views of the old city as well as modern Jerusalem, from an elevated point of view. Having struggled ourselves several times through the crowded narrow streets below, it was hard to believe we were looking at exactly the same city, while it is so quiet and peaceful seeing it from the wall. You also get views of the backsides and gardens of streets, not otherwise visible. After having spent a week in Jerusalem, it was great fun trying to recognize as many as possible landmarks from the old as well as new part of the city.

“Nice walk”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

I walked the Ramparts Walk between Jaffa Gate and Lions Gate. It is a nice way to see the city from above. Bring a lot of water on a hot day.
