“Excellent Location and Good Value”

We stayed here for two nights while we were in Jerusalem. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful, giving you a map with advice on what to see in the area. The room was clean and tidy although nothing flash but for the price it was excelletn. We even got a beautitful fruit platter on arrival. They also had cold water bottles that you could take for free which was a great idea in the very hot temperatures. We would stay here again.

We booked this hotel because it was close to everything and it worked out really well. Mr Wasserman was super friendly, and being from Australia, he nicknamed me Kangaroo! We found it a little tricky to get to the hotel so Mr W left his office and met us and personally escorted us to his Hotel. How often does that happen ?
The rooms were large - we had 3 singles for the 2 of us, which was great as we could spread our luggage on another bed rather than the floor. The shower was hot, A/c worked well, balcony off the room, and our room was decorated with intricate puzzles that Mr W had completed himself ( without using the box as a guide)... If you want to know anything about Israel, politics, Jerusalem, and family, just ask Mr W, hes an expert on every topic. Thats what i love about Israel, its not the fancy shmancy hotels that you can stay in and the receptionist who just takes your money, its people like Mr W who make up the fabric of Israeli society and who are willing to be open and talkative at all hours of the day and night, Would I go back to the Kaplan Hotel ? You Bet.

Kaplan Hotel is indeed in a very good location, 10 minutes walking distance to the old city, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, bars, ah and the tram is also on the main street! The rooms are basic, shower with hot water, A/C especially needed in this time of the year, breakfast not included. (you can have coffee at all times) Do not expect to get there and see a reception desk instead Natan the owner will welcome you on the main hall on the second floor of the hotel. He is a very niice guy. Don't worry at night you will not be bothered by the noise of the night life of the city. Remember this is a handy hotel not a hostel.

Decided to stay in Jerusalem overnight, great city and wanted to see the old city. We wanted somewhere cheap, safe, with a toilet and shower. Hey we even got zircon and a great balcony overlooking the square. Nice guy / owner, place was clean, comfortable and with a short ride by tram costing £2 for the 2 of us on a single trip, what can i say, jerusalem is clean, safe and offers some great amenities, i think more restaurants would be great, but we also were able to go to the supermarket for cheap food and drinks and that was great. Hotel Kaplan is situated on Jaffa street and opposite to great cafe's, restaurants etc. bit noisy, hey what do you want when you are in the centre, but we simply closed our windows, 30oC anyway and stuck on the Aircon it was so relaxing...thanks

Room Tip: Make sure you have change for the tram, come out of central station (bus), walk outside to where the...

If you are looking for a clean, boutique, cheap hotel in a great location, this is the hotel for you!! The facilities are just what we needed, nothing flashy or modern, but clean and functional; high pressured hot shower and cold airconditioned rooms. The hotel is situated close to many eateries and bars and only walking distance to old jerusalem. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, and really wanted to make us feel welcome as it was our home. I rate this place a 6 for personal touch and customer service!!

This small hotel is located in an excellent point of west Jerusalem. It's walking distance from the old city but also just one block from Ben Yehuda and its numerous cafes and restaurants.
There is a tram stop just outside the hotel, quite useful for reaching the bus station or other areas of the city.
What's best about this hotel is the host. He's truly as helpful and easy going as a host can be, and if you're interested in discussing politics, he is quite well informed and sensible in his aproach.
Only issue with the rooms is the noise and the insects, so a couple of ear plugs and mosquitoes repellent are quite useful.

I definitely recommend this hotel to any budget traveller visiting Jerusalem,

The Kaplan Hotel is in the perfect location, it is located at Ben Yahuda and Yaffa streets every thing is either within walking distance or a short train or bus ride to what ever you want to see. Natan Taig is a most gracious host and most helpful in helping us find our way around. We did not have the opportunity to meet Eli Wasserman but I am sure he also is a gracious host. In the future while in Jerusalem we will make the Kaplan our base.
The Kaplin is clean, the rooms may be small but then again we were in them just to sleep. we could have stayed at a more expensive hotel and spent $10.00 for a cup of coffiee but would not have made the friends we did while staying at the Kaplan. On a scale of 1 star to 4 stars I would rate the Kaplan for its hospitality and quaintness, its location to everything 6 stars.
Thank you Natan for making our stay in Jerusalem a most memorable one.
