“Pleasant welcoming atmosphere and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014

A last minute stop on the way to Hadassah hospital for a late lunch was a great idea. Indoor seating in the 'greenhouse' atmosphere of the surrounding plant nursery with funky potted plants lining every space on the window sills was delightful. Nice menu differing a bit from the usual café offerings. We both were happy with winter mushroom dishes and neither the mushroom risotto or paparadelle disappointed. They were both hot, generous and delicious. Friendly fairly efficient wait staff. Lively enough to be interesting, quiet enough to enjoy conversation. Bought some of those window sill potted plants which were a very welcome gift and nice memento of our meal at Café Itamar. Enthusiastically recommend.

“Well Done”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

Our tour group visited Cafe Itamar and I was impressed with everything from the dinner items to the friendly staff. Situated in a garden setting (which makes sense considering the surroundings), the staff handled a large party calmly and with smiles. It is an art to be able to serve a larger number of people at one time but the staff is well trained. The restaurant itself has a rustic and comfortable feel and is no doubt popular with the local population. I would highly recommend it.

“Jerusalem Restaurant "Country Style"”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

This mostly outdoor cafe is located in a working nursery and plant store on the outskirts of Jerusalem not far from the Hadassah Hospital campus. Sitting in the nursery makes for a really nice atmosphere. The majority of the clientele were locals and the place was busy. We did not have a reservation but if we had showed up 2 hours later we would have waited. We were four people that had soup salad and risotto. Everyone was happy with their meals. Service was fine and that means "pretty good" by Israeli standards. My family is pretty fluent in Hebrew so we do well when it comes to needing extra explanations of something on the menu. Without the language background there would be more of a barrier in the basic communication at this place. Again there were more locals and very few tourists.
The cost was on the high side for what we had but decent restaurant food in Israel is generally pretty costly.

“An island of peace ... for a relaxing meal surrounded by flowers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

Nice and peaceful restaurant in a plant nursery.
When you get in you first encounter bright flowers, small cute cactus in bright red, yellow or orange colors (yes they are) and all kind of greenery which are quite a relaxing scenery.
All the ambiance afterward remains the same, the tables are near the plants, there are also a few small fountains which add to the atmosphere with the the sound of flowing water.
Again, really nice and relaxing for a weekend family meal.

Regarding the quality of the food, the dishes are tasty, some of them very like the mushroom casserole or their different salads (which we had).
And their cauliflower cream is superb.

The prices are not cheap nor really expensive according to the other restaurants prices ...
Of course I would have liked an average price of 40 ils for a salad instead of 60 ils .
And the fish dishes are over 80 ils which is the reason I did not have them...
nor gave a 5* rating to my review.

Of course the place was clean and the service prompt as cheerful.

Overall a solid 4* value which will not disappoint you if you'll eat meat another day and are not looking for the bargain of your life.

An island of peace ...
