I've heard about this place a while ago but only this week had the chance to come and check it out. We had a very tasty vegi dinner and the special tea types are of course great. The best thing though is the vibe - small & intimate, great music and decor, everything seems to move in a different pace once you are inside.
Would go back there again for sure.

apart from anything else, one has to admire the self confidence of the owners of Halitatea to develop a location hidden away from view - it would have to rely on reputation and word of mouth. So to be clear, the success and enthusiastic word of mouth would be richly deserved - we had a superbly tasty and satisfying lunch in a delightfully calm and relaxing atmosphere. The list of tea is endless (also original in the land of identikit coffee cafes) - I had a their home brewed chai, the most fantastic contrast to the powdered goo served in chain cafes. The highlight was a rich coconut milk and lentil dal with generous cubes of haloumi cheese, passing off as a fine substitute for paneer. There is a fine array of English style scones and cake to broaden the appeal of tea based meals.
Add high level and ultra helpful staff - this really is a treat and deserves great success.

aside of the fact it is a perfect hang out for tea lovers, beginners or experts it matters not. The place itself offers a pleasant food menu that is also vegan friendly and light yet filling, a perfect place for brunch in a quiet and calm atmosphere on a side street that is still central enough. The selection of teas is impressive and through, and there are fixed menus available that match tea to food. Such as Russian Baba Yaga or an English Queen's Service. This is not your run of the mill mass manufactured Tea but a true Tea Trader that is also a restaurant and sit down place.
For the lovers of flavor and aroma I recommend to try the Lapsang Souchang Supreme or Golden Needle - for a very unique and malty Tea experience. A true Jerusalem gem

We visited the place last week and were taken by it's charm and quiet surrounding. It was a little hard to find at the beginning- located in a small alley, but it is worth the visit. We took the Indian and Mediterranean meals- including food + drinks. We loved it. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and have great tea- this is it.

We live in Haifa and visit Jerusalem quit often. Last time we visited this cosy, quiet cafee and were impressed very much by hospitality and food quality. You hardly find in Jerusalem such serene place for having perfect tea.
The young couple who runs"Halitatea" Gabriel and his charming wife were very helpful and even assisted us to choose the "right" sort of tea matching our meals.
