“Israeli meal on a Parisian type street”

Lara has the feel of a Parisian restaurant due to its location on Ben Shatah Street, a pedestrian street filled with other restaurants. Lara offers an interesting and enjoyable wine list of Israeli wines. The eggplant appetizer, typical in many Israeli restaurants, was superior to the others, as were the various other appetizers of hummus, olive tapenade and tehini. Our sea bass and chicken liver dinners were outstanding. The sea bass was prepared in a light olive oil and placed on a bed of couscous, while the chicken livers were cooked just right and benefited from the caramelized onions and mashed potatoes. The multi-berry fruit tart was a perfect conclusion to the dinner.

We are Jerusalem locals, wandered into this restaurant without checking into it. While the ambiance was nice and we enjoyed the fresh, home-made bread, the pleasant experience ended there. The three different meat dishes we ordered didn't rate much beyond mediocre; the whole fish was skimpy, there wasn't much meat in the stew and the chicken breast was tasteless. The beet gnocchi was tasty but priced like a meat dish. We gasped when we received the bill because the meal was such poor value for the money. Never again.

Fresh and warm rolls together with excellent appetizers pointed out that a chef was behind.
The rare entrecote was very good, as ordered. So were the other dishes.
Desert consisted of chocolate cake and ice-cream, all prepared on the premisses.
Chef Lior made sure that all went smoothly.
Food was excellent, but this place could have some renovations and more comfortable seats.

The concierge at our hotel recommend this place because we wanted steaks. She got us a reservation.
We arrived and were promptly seated, it all went downhill from there. It took a long time to have any waiter or waitress come over and take our drink order, you could tell all of the wait staff that walked by seemed frazzled.
Finally, we made our drink order and our dinner order. They brought us bread, and then we waited and waited and waited for our food. Literally an hour and half later we still weren't served. We had a hard time getting a waiter to even tell them, and when we did they seemed to have realize our order got lost or something. They said our food would be ready soon, and brought us a grilled vegetable plate which we didn't want we just wanted our food. Now 2 hours after we ordered our food, it finally came. At that point I would eat anything I was so hungry. I took one bite of my steak and it was terrible. Then I tried the veggies and they were bad too.
My husband and I left there extremely disappointed. We went next door and had a hamburger at Black Burger and were in and out with good food in less than 30 minutes. Oh what a night.
