Owner description: Following two devastating wars and 20 years of enemy occupation, the Jewish Quarter of Old Jerusalem was reconstructed with great attention to harmonious architectural detail. The highlight of the quarter is the excavation of the Cardo, the ancient Roman market street.

I enjoyed walking through the old city with the hustle and bustle of the market, and was even more pleasantly surprised to find a different atmosphere in the Jewish Quarter - somewhat more relaxing and modern. Quite a contrast but still having its own style with lots of boutiques and art galleries. Loved the open square with lots of restaurants and coffee bars to relax outside, soaking up the sun and atmosphere. Definitely worth seeing!

No visit to Jerusalem is complete without a visit to the Jewish Quarter and shopping at the Cardo. It is an absolute requirement and we visit every time we visit Jerusalem. The shops have quality items, are well arranged and prices are usually very reasonable.

It was so interesting seeing the Jewish quarter & learning about it's history. I know it's not the greatest analogy but the Roman city planning style reminded me a little of Pompeii. This area is such a contrast to the other quarters since it had to be rebuilt after the Jordanians destroyed it during the war. Also so interesting to see firsthand some of the politics of the Temple Mount & how the Arab world spread false propoganda about how the Jews were building a synagogue on Temple Mount. We saw the synagogue which has been there forever & is nowhere near Temple Mount. You cannot understand this without going there & seeing for yourself. Great stuff!

Very interesting to walk around and feel like part of history. The book store is amazing! The restaurants are fun. The view of the WALL and the people praying is very moving!
