“Very good food, poor wine list - in a restaurant better known by it's hebrew name - Hasadna”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

We went there for a late lunch on some friends recommendation.
Some of the popular fares of the place where not available (it was after a long holliday season with markets still closed) but the specials where very good - good looking and tasty.
Service was friendly and helpfull and the atmosfere relaxed ( the restaurant is in the old train station complex). We were somewhat annoyed by the air-conditioning being off during a somewhat hot afternoon but the waiters claimed that many other patrons complained about the place being too cold when if was working. We tought that that's why you have ac controlled by thermostats but did not insist. The wine list was the short on Israeli wines (5 wines) and those on the list where not in the first league but where priced like first leagues wines.

“Great family dinner place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2013

Loved the place!! Everyone, inc. kids (7-14 yrs), found their desire on menu. VERY attentive service, 2 dishes OTH - very thoughtful and generous: 3 kids could not decide between 3 deserts, so the kitchen sent us the third...
Nice portions, interesting serving (french fries in frying basket, green beans in pan....) but overall had a good time!

“If in Jerusalem - don't miss!”

This is a good restaurant decorated to make the customer feel good. They have good meat and good seafood. The meat is displayed in an aging cooler. Very friendly staff. Reasonable prices.

“Outstanding dinner, great wine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

A friend introduced me to The Culinary Workshop ("Hasadna" in Hebrew), a non-kosher trendy restaurant near Baka and the German Colony. It is upscale, with an open kitchen, young English speaking servers and very trendy. Most of all the food is great and the wine list of Israeli choices is superb. I enjoyed a starter of broiled shrimp wrapped in bacon, on a bed of guacamole. The favors were profound and extraordinary. One of the best starter dishes I have ever had! The beef filet mignon was also delicious, perfectly cooked, and nicely seasoned. The owner treated us to a complimentary grappa, which was a nice top-off of the evening. I don't remember the red wine we ordered but it was locally produced and quite reasonably priced for its quality.

On my next visit to Jerusalem, it will be fun to sit at the counter looking into the kitchen, and watch the chefs do their magic. I will surely be back!
