Stayed here for 8 nights in late Oct, early Nov 2009. The location is ideal, just inside the Jaffa Gate in the Christian Quarter of the Old City. Easy walking distance to the entire Old City including the Western Wall, and the nearby shopping sector of the New City. Had a room across the street from the main hotel. We were on the upper floor (room numbers in the 500s). The only problem was the lower ceilings which really aren't made for 6-foot Americans. The breakfast buffet is very good, and the evening dinners are wonderful. As mentioned in the title, the value is good, but it isn't 5-star accomodations. TV channel selection is very limited, about 4 channels in English, CNN, BBC, and a couple of Dubai channels. But you aren't there for television, you are there to experience the rich culture and traditions of Jerusalem.

If you can handle a modest hotel as accommodations, this is the best location for sites in Israel. The service and food are great. The 3rd terrace has an excellent view of the city. We would stay here again, if we return. Hotel accommodations are not like the USA, but adequate. You are in the heart of the city and what a way to see their culture.

The Gloria Hotel is located just inside the Jappa Gate inside of Jerusalem. We had rooms directly on the main street and enjoyed the simple pleasure of watching the streets come alive at night. The rooms were simple, but adequate and the meals were excellent. It was a great place to base an adventure in Jerusalem.

This hotel was a perfect springboard to exploring the Old City. The rooms are relatively basic, but comfortable. The hotel features a solid breakfast buffet each morning, too (included in the room price). What you're really paying for, however, is the location: Just within the Jaffa Gate. This where the Tourist Information Center is located (staffed by very informative and helpful locals). I stayed here for five nights and would definitely recommend it to solo travelers and groups. Note: If you're looking for five-star pampering, there's the David Citadel Hotel just outside the Jaffa Gate -- but you'll be paying much, much more for those accommodations!

I found the Gloria Hotel through TripAdvisor and booked through another website. Although the hotels own website is a little old, I booked with them anyway. Don't let the hotels own website put you off. I have stayed at some very nice and expensive hotels on my travels, but the Gloria is one of the best I've ever stayed in.

Immaculately clean throughout, this beautiful old building in in the best location to explore all of Jerusalem. It's on a small quiet side-street just off the Jaffa Gate square, actually inside the Old City Walls of Jerusalem. The staff were extremely pleasant and friend, and helped us no end with our sight-seeing plans. Unfortunately I didn't get the managers name, but he was very jovial and made us feel very welcome.

One of the un-advertised features of this hotel is the roof-top terrace. Go up to floor 3 in the lift and there is a simple flat roof with a few tables and chairs where you can relax and maybe have a glass of wine while taking in the stunning views on Old and New Jerusalem. Simply a brilliant hotel! Another little recommendation is the small Italian / French bistro that's on the same street as the hotel opposite. Very good food!
