Review of Holy Bagel

Holy Bagel
Ranked #6 of 16 Bakeries in Jerusalem
Cuisines: American, Israeli
Description: If you are a looking for a taste of NY with Israel on the side, then try Holy Bagel on Emek Rafaim. Situated near the end of this great street of botiques and retaurants Holy Bagel has NY style bagel with your choice of toppings. I went for the standar lox, cream cheese, tomatoe and onion and wa not disapointed. They have a few locations, no web site. But here's a 10% off coupon http://www.eluna.com/rest%5CHolyBagel.asp?mumu=449

The omlette bagel was good but kinda pricey. My husband ordered a pesto bagel, clearly marked on the giant menu as 10 NIS (nothing else remotely similar listed) and somehow the guy working charges us 19NIS. When we ask about it he acts kinda weird and claims he didn't understand... Even though he was also a native English speaker and we were quite clear in what we ordered. So basically he blames us and took forever to make the order and starts huffing about when he starts to remake it, and we had to go so we just said don't bother. Doesn't offer a discount or anything and was very rude. Basically we paid 19 for jut a bagel and cream cheese, such a rip off.

This bagel shop gives you plenty of choices in bagels from standard plain bagels, to onion, garlic, poppy seed, cinnamon, salt, sesame, and everything bagels. They are also available in whole wheat. Sandwiches have a variety of fillings, tuna, egg, avocado, lox and various cream cheeses. There is equally a variety of salad fixings to add to your bagel sandwich. We ordered whole wheat garlic and onion with tuna. It was fresh out of the onion and tasty. The bagel sandwiches can be eaten at the tables provided and one can order coffee, drinks, and pastry or you can take away your selection. You stand at the counter, make your selection and have it your way.

Great experience at the one at Jaffa which is a stone's throw from our hotel. It became my husband's morning breakfast hunt ever since we found it. Good variety and very good when fresh out from the oven. Not the cheapest on the street of Jaffa but really worth the extra shekels. Very good and friendly service.

Holy Bagel generally serves up wonderful sandwiches (and on traditional boil-me, bake-me bagels)--ones like you'd make for yourself, bursting with egg salad, tuna, whatever.

But at Holy Bagel opposite Zion Square in Jerusalem---with tuna spread as thin as a layer of butter---we got MOSTLY BAGEL.

One of the most unsatisfying meals of my life-- especially knowing that at Holy Bagels in/near the Central Bus Station, bagels overflow with goodness.

Stay clear.

I had a salmon bagel here on whole wheat onion bread. They have a wide selection of whole wheat bagels, which is something that really impressed me. You an select from a wide array of toppings too like onions, and various spreads. Friendly staff. Will come back.
