It was a moving experience, one to be remembered for the millions lost. Also to look forward to the future that Israel will always prevail.

Time permitting, visit the memorial. The architecture alone is worth seeing. As you walk through, names and faces of the lost during the Holocaust are seen. Articles of theirs, and what life was like for them are depicted.

Yad Vashem is a place of remembrance for those murdered in the Holocaust. Although it is solemn and disturbing, it is also a place of great design in a beautiful location in the Jerusalem Hills. We took the light rail line from Jerusalem's city center to the Mt. Herzl stop, the end of the line. A relatively short hike (about 10 minutes) leads to Yad Vashem. Along the way, admire the bright red Calder sculpture. We stayed about two+ hours, but one could easily spend a day. Do not miss a visit to Yad Vashem. You will walk where all leaders of foreign countries come to pay their respects and honor the dead.

This memorial is a very important and moving tribute. Much of this may not be appropriate for young children.

We visited this in December last and we are travelling back again in April 2014.
This is a very touching and unbelievable place to go to. The torture and pain that these people suffered is something that we cannot imagine as we were not there. This place for many of us has become a sacred place, as they have thousand of adults and children's things that were left behind. Just looking at these items broke my heart and gave me tears. The pain and suffering can never ever be explained to people that were not there. I cannot understand how these Germans managed to do this without the world coming to the aid of these people. Germany even these days will never be forgiven by many many people. If you go to Israel this is the first place to go and see, and say a pray when you are there.
