This show is a great finish to a day of touring Jerusalem and learning about it's history. I went there at a friend's recommendation. That recommendation stated to visit the Museum first and then go to the show. However, I did not make it to the museum on time as the whole trip was a last-minute decision (it is easy to do it from Tel Aviv) and ended up going to the show first. It helped to know the history of Jerusalem, but even if you don't the show is a fine piece of motion picture and animation combined artwork projected over the walls of the Citadel. It will be a highlight of your day if you choose to go.

Order online a combined ticket to see the museum and the show. The show was full so try to book in advance. Best seats are in the middle 1 row before the last one and are assigned (or not) on first come, first serve manner. No photos were allowed. Get a timeline for your reference that is given out at the entrance. If you arrive early there is a very small romantic park with a fountain where you can wait, but keep in mind there is not too many places available to seat comfortably. The show is under an open sky, so beware of the weather forecast - it lightly rained when we went in September, but it wasn't cancelled.

Both the museum and the night spectacular give the history of Jerusalem from its origins, through the Byzantine, Babylonian, Crusader and many other periods, through to today. I had no idea just how many different 'rulers' Jerusalem had had. The night show only lasts for 45 minutes and it is both easily accessible for all ages and utterly beautiful. Even our four year old enjoyed it.

During the day the museum is compact and elaborates upon the night show. An excellent museum well worth a visit.

There are no real artifacts in the citadel just memories. Regardless, you get a real feel as to what happened in the tower if you take the time to read all the points on the tour map. Make sure you go for the evening show. i never attend evening shows because they are usually terrible but I opted in this time because it was cheap and I was bored. I was pleasantly surprised on how good the show was and it REALLY fills in the gaps where you did not think possible. Go early and sit as high up as possible so you can see the show properly. The show spans the entire citadel so you miss alot if you sit too low.

The entrance is very close to the Jaffa Gate. The Tower of David Museum is a great introduction to the history of Jerusalem. There are historical displays in various chambers throughout the Museum. You are drawn through the city's history via the Canaanites, the King David era, the Romans, Jesus Christ, Byzantine, the Muslim period, the Crusades, the Ottomans, the British Mandate and finally to modern Israel. There is also a courtyard with 2700-year-old ruins.
You can climb to the top of the Citadel’s walls and you are rewarded with magnificent views of the city from the ramparts. A visit to the Museum is a very pleasant and interesting way to spend a few hours. Son et Lumiere entertainments are held in the Citadel courtyard during the summer. Shows in English take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is a nice snack bar in the courtyard, too.
