“One day is not enough”

During our visit to the museum things that we saw and would suggest you do not miss were the Dead Sea Scrolls, The King Herod exhibit, and the section of Temples from around the world. This museum is enormous and one day is not enough to see everything. Check the hours before going as some evenings it is open until 9:00 which will allow much more time if you arrive when it opens.

“World Class Museum with amazing exhibit of Herod's tomb”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

This museum is first class-filled with artefacts from millennia past as well as art and sculpture from the best of the best- there is even a Rembrandt! ( St. Peter in prison- brilliant)
The recent exhibit of Herod's tomb, a major archeological discovery, is breathtaking and worth a close visit. This museum deserves a three to four hour visit and you will still need several more visits to grasp all of it. The Louvre of the Middle East!.

“Good history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

If you are in Israel, give this place a visit. The museum has much more than just history of Israel nation. The displays cover a large period of the regions history as well as the people who lived there or influenced the region. Get a good guide to explain the finer points and learn even more. Archeological wing is a very interesting site

“Excellent architecture, stunning contents”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

I saw the current Herod exhibition, it was well put together, informative, interesting, not crowded on a Sunday. I did ask the staff before entering whether I could take photographs and they said yes without a flash (standard fare) however I was approached In the museum by an 'official' and ticked off for taking photographs, so be careful on this score, I always check if there's no signage but was given the wrong information.
