The Herodian Exhibit was especially good. We had seen the Shrine of the Book and the Billy Rose Garden on previous visits. They are going to have a room of Impressionism Art that will be opened in July.

We went to see the Herod exhibit, but the rest of the museum turned out to be even better. We took a guided tour, which we would recommend. The archaeological exhibit was particularly interesting. There was so much to see that we only scratched the surface. We would recommend setting aside at least five hours if you want to at least glimpse all of the exhibits.

I went to the Museum to see the terrific exhibition on King Herod and stumbled upon an exhibition of the Gabriel Stone. In layman's terms, the Gabriel stone is a Dead Sea scroll written on stone rather than parchment that has an inscription referring to the Angel Gabriel who will come save the City of Jerusalem (the City of David) from destruction. Interestingly, Gabriel appears in the old and new testaments as well as the Koran.

The exhibit on Herod is amazing. But every time I go there I'm amazed by the depth and beauty of the exhibits. I'd be careful about going there mid-day in the heat of the summer because you do have to be outside quite a bit.

This is a great half-day or so, with pretty outdoor gardens, an incredible model of Jerusalem's walled city as it may have looked two centuries ago, and fantastic presentation of archeological finds from across the country.
