Owner description: Located outside the walls of Jerusalem, this beautiful garden among a grove of olive trees is thought to be the place where Jesus particularly enjoyed prayer and contemplation.

The garden is actually an ancient olive grove--Gethsemane means "the place of the olive press." It is very plain, and set within a cloister designed by a Franciscan architect. Very easy to picture Jesus' gathering with his disciples.

Just a small garden with olive trees and a nice church. Not sure why - but I was expecting more. Not easy to find, as no sign-posts off the main road so you have to ask for directions, and hope you find somebody who speaks English! A bit disappointing.

It took me 3 business trips before I visited the Gardens of Gethsemane. It is just so peaceful and the old wissened olive trees just add to the magic. Plus there's the church, one of the most beautiful and serene that I have ever visited

Calm and collecting. The garden hosts old olive trees and the youngest tree being planted by the pope in 1960's. The garden leads to the church which has the most amazing painted ceiling and sections of the walls are build displaying the original stone that would have been there before the church was built.

Still a working church

Lovely place to go to if only minus the pilgrims. The Church of all nations is beautiful and very peaceful - the Garden is small but the olive trees are very interesting having been there for 1000's of years. Keep on your itinerary buut a short visit suffices.
