You would normally not want to visit a grave yard. Honestly the historic value and amazing views make this place a must see.

To stand on the Mount of Olives and look to the Garden of Gethsemane, the Kidron Valley, Old Jerusalem and Temple Mount was like being part of a postcard. We saw it in the sun and during torrential rains. Amazing both ways.

We visited several sites on the Mount of Olives, the most significant being the Garden of Gesemane (with its Church of the Agony), where Christ prayed while Judas went to betray him to the Jewish authorities.

The churches on the Mount were all beautiful and must sees. However, the olive trees from the time of Christ are still there and he probably prayed under one of the trees we saw in the garden. We found that to be very significant. Another realization was that the palace of the high priest from which Judas led the Jewish guards to capture Jesus was in plain site from the garden. Jesus could see the guards from the time they left the palace until they reached the garden to arrest him. All he had to do is to climb up over the Mount of Olives and he could have easily escaped into the wilderness where the guards would have never found him. He had 25 to 30 minutes to do so and choose not to. Very significant, if you believe as I do.

When you vista the Mount of Olives ensure that you see the Ascension Chapel located in the Church of the Pater Noster, where a foot print of Christ as he ascended into heaven is found. Also, worth seeing is Dominus Flevit (the Lord wept), a chapel built on the spot where Jesus wept as he beheld Jerusalem.

This is also a must see for a Christian pilgrim.

We loved walking all around the Mount of Olives. For Christians it is an absolute must see! The view of Jerusalem from the Mount is fantastic. You can feel the presence of everyone from the Bible and everything in Christ's life that happened in and around the area. We stayed there for a long time to soak in as much of it as possible.
