Took a tour inside church which is very large. Mosiacs, color, and interests for anyone. Please dress conservative. No shorts and have your shoulders covered if sleeveless.

I loved the black robed Greek Orthodox priests; the women on their knees kissing every inch of where Christ is supposed to have died; the candles; the history oozing from the pores of this building.

Disliked the crowds so go early in the morning.

Women must cover their heads and men dress respectfully.

We were lucky to visit the Holy Sepulcre when it was not too crowded (by chance...). We had 2 guide books and I felt this was enough to understand the site. It was very interesting to see the place but also some very emotional people for whom this place is really sacred.
If you want to visit Jesus tomb, make sure your shoulders are covered (women) and that you wear long skirts or pants. The priest at the entrance of the tomb is a phenomenon by himself, shouting 'You, out' at the people in the queue who are not dressed accordingly! You could spend 15 min just watching him tell some people that "for fun or depravation, you go to Tel-Aviv!" He makes a lot of noise and does not make himself clear on the instructions, but shoulders and legs covered are the secret (no need to wear something on your head).

This place is truly amazing. Even if you are not Christian visiting here helps to complete you understanding and experience of Jerusalem. Bring a lot of patience with you when you visit, everyone visits here so it is very crowded. Don't let that deter you though, you will not forgive yourself if you skip this.

This is where Jesus is supposed to have been buried so you'll expect some sort of spiritual experience but it's so crowded that you feel like you are in a market instead. Try to go early in the morning if you want to actually be able to see anything otherwise, you'll end up in long lines to just see something for a few seconds.
