“Religious wrangling at its best”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

A truly holy place for billions, fought over by those who care the most. Well preserved for milennia and open to the public for free. See the purported Tomb of Jesus, from 2 perspectives, take a guide to explain why things are the way they are and why that's not likely to chenge.

“An unbelievably impressive church”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

This church is so large that you should not try it alone. A tour guide can help you maneuver the crowds and explain what you are seeing. When we went it was really crowded. There is a reason for the crowds. The church is that special. When we went, I believe a couple of large tour groups converged at once. However, as we were preparing to leave it was not anywhere nearly as crowded. I would recommend one go early, but if you can't, go anyway, anytime. Yes, there may be crowds and pushing, but you will see amazing sights. It is the most holy place in Christianity.

“need a guide...”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

This church is so big, with so many important Christians sights to see in it, and the guide books don't really tell you where to look for everything. You can give one of the many locals in the church courtyard a few sheckels to show you around and it's worth it. You climb up to the second level of the church to see Golgotha, main level has the tomb and rock of annointment. Downstairs is the cave the cross was discovered in and the tomb of Joseph of Arimithea. Church is very dark and hard to see all the wonderful pantings, so bring a flash light if you can.

“A must for anyone”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

This church is amazing and beautiful. It is not your typical church, but several churches within a church. Seeing how ancient some parts of it are, the devotion of the faithful. It does get crowded around the sepulchres, so be prepared to wait.
