“The Holiest place for Christians”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

As Catholics, we found it very moving but it was hard to concentrate on what it was all about, i.e. the death of Jesus given the enormous crowds and the pushing and shoving.

There are many churches to see but this is probably one that you should not miss. Very pretty and spritual.

“Crowded and Gaudy”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

The building itself is really wonderful, especially inside the dome when the light shines down.
If you're not religious it's an interesting place to look around but other than that it doesn't hold much appeal. The history behind the building (and the immovable ladder) are much more interesting.
The alleged site of Christ's tomb maybe best left to those who truly believe - we found the tiny room a little strange and though we were hoping for a sense of serenity we found nothing of the sort there. The queue to get in is also enough to make you weep (we stood in line for nearly 2 hours).
There are far more impressive buildings in Jerusalem for those who are visiting for more aesthetic reasons, but it's definitely something worth seeing once.

“too much tourism”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

I don't mean to much people; I mean that there was people with there hands on the Sepulchre smile to their friend taking a picture of them: what about the sacred spirit of the place..Anyhow It's very nice as from the spiritual as from the architectural point of view. All the Church is beautiful; take your time and go visiting each corner, upstairs also.
