“The Best Walking a Tour in Jerusalem!”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

Just inside Jaffa gate, you can sign up and join a group departing each morning for a free 2 1/2 hr walking tour. Sandeman's has well educated guides who know their stuff. They also share trivia and stories mixed with lame jokes and wacky anecdotes to make this a fun morning. One caution, it's not a community for wheelchairs or disabled walkers. Some places you are interested in , you have to make a mental note of and return to. For example We stopped in front if the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, learned about everything that happened there and could return later and head upstairs knowing what happened there and then go down to the basement knowing what to look for, there. Our guide, Yariv, was well worth the generous tip we gave him with our thanks.

“A Must”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

This is a place to see when in israel. This is the epicenter of religious madness, and todays visitors are acting just as mad. Be prepared for stampeeds, fighting , queeing up and guards constantly telling you what not to do. And no one seems to know of what is open or not...you can even go to a internetcafe at the Via Dolorosa or buy your kitch tshirts i.e. Guns & Moses lol.... and yes you will be harrassed by wendors and begging children...

For elderly and infirm, bring at least 2 assistants as people do not care about others.

The place is well kept but as you are in the middleeast dont expect it to be well organized...stressful and sometime a bit too much.

You must give the old city at least one FULL day. There was so much to see and do, people to talk to and learn from.

“Walk thru history!”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

Every few feet there is history in the Old City, and it boggles the mind to comprehend what has transpired I this square kilometer of space for thousands of years. Herod building the Wall and temple, the rebuilt (post 1967) Jewish quarter which is gorgeous, the Arab markets and it's bustle, the Via Delarosa, and Armenian section with artists making beautiful crafts, all are something to experience.
