“A unique prayer site.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2014

Visiting the Western Wall lets the visitor into the complexity of the current situation. The Temple Mount is the holiest site for the Jewish religion. According to our tradition, The foundation Stone which is covered today by the Dome of the Rock, is the the point where the Creation of the World started, the Binding Of Isacc took place, and where the first and Second Temples used to be. Today Jews are not welcome in their holiest site, so they have to make do with the Western Wall.

“For special prayers!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2014 via mobile

Pilgrims and mostly Jews come here. It has a separate place for male and female. You will have this intense feeling of sobriety when you see the tiny pieces of papers inserted on very small spaces in between the walls. These papers are petitions for healing and reconciliation.
The most recent visitor was Pope Francis when he went to the Holy Land in May, 2014.

Connect with Jewish history in Israel by visiting the last remaining wall from the time of the Jewish temples.

“Full of emotion”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2014

I was able to go to the wall with may brother-in-law who went to say prayers for his father who recently passed away - an emotional experience for both of us. We were able to join a young boy's Bar Mitzvah and see him read from the Torah. On our way out we were able to see and hear three more processions of boys who were on their way to the wall. It was a feast of music, dancing and singing as the family made their way to the wall! I think it happens on Mondays and Thursdays! Great atmosphere!

“Kabbalat Shabbat”

Go on Friday night to pray at the wall-- you'll see all kinds of people, including groups of soldiers who come to pray as a unit. It's inspiring.
