Dear Sirs,

I was guest in your hotel from March15 to March22.
I enjoyed being with you and have the following
suggestion:

In order to avoid overweight it would be very helpful if you had a SCALE
that guests
could use to weigh
their luggage. I think that is a small investment that would be
appreciated a lot by your guests and which I have seen
in many hotels around the world.

Please let me know if you could accept my suggestion.
Thanks in advance

16 February 2011
The hotel has been sent this letter.

My husband & I stayed at Lev Yerushalayim February 3 – 7th.
The location was very good, close to shopping, food, and public transportation.

I was very disappointed with the facility it’s self. The suite (#119) was not clean – (sorry I did not take pictures).

1) the kitchen sink had dried food in it
2) the kitchen drawers had crumbs
3) the dish drain rack was crusty
4) the water kettle had a thick layer of hard water crust in it ; the pot & base were sticky with coffee & sugar spots - when I asked the young lady @ the desk for a clean pot (or some vinegar to clean it) she asked me “what I wanted her to do with it”….. we did get a new kettle.
5) The refrigerator was dirty – the door & shelves had food remnants & dried “chocolate pudding”.
6) The bathtub & wall had mold - I am allergic to mold. Bleach works wonders.
7) The door stops & behind the toilet had a layer of “dust” – never was cleaned during our stay. I was using that as a marker.
8) The under-sink cabinet was open to the wall & it smelled musty.

We bought some paper towels & Clorox Clean-Up --- it was a lot easier to scrub the place down than to find another hotel (it was cold, raining & we did not have a wifi connection). The Internet charges were $15USD/day.
The young man who brought us the new kettle & a working hot plate (cook top), came while we were cleaning the kitchen & helped us some.

We were charged $35USD for dishes: they were marked Kosher … but they did not look clean - so I washed them (we do not observe Kosher laws).
The charge for breakfast was outrageous (we did not purchase the breakfast).

I also did not appreciate the young man who carried our bags, commenting that we were “Rich Americans” & told the taxi driver to drive us to Tel Aviv – we specifically told him twice we wanted the bus station – we went to the bus station.

The place could be lovely with a little care (soap, water & some bleach), informing guests of additional charges before booking & the staff being a little more attentive to their clients & their facility. I really felt like they were doing us the favor of letting us stay there.

Note for TA:
I would recommend this place with caution.

I have nvere written a review on trip advisor, but hope that this review helps deter a few from booking at this terrible hotel.
We were aware that the accomodation was going to be basic (beccause of the price), however we were shocked at the state of the rooms, and in particular the bathrooms. They were filthy, the bedrooms were dirty, and most of the requests to remedy this were ignored.
These apartments are cheap for a reason, I would not recommend this accomodation to anyone.

My Son’s stayed there during his training for MADA voluntary work, so being out of his room from 7.30 in the morning to 9 in the evening. He Left his cash in the cupboard, being 18 years old thought he is safe in Israel Hotel (what a stupid assumption). On Friday he goes to get his money and all gone, he was left with 20 Shec. The staff could not be more nasty to him they treated him as a criminal, ask him where is your Passport, proof to us you had the money and so on. Even thought they knew he is part of the group with Israel Experience. The staff did not want to know I have been on the phone with them every day and you get nowhere. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFULL if decide to go there or DO NOT STAY THERE AT ALL

It was a trip of a lifetime. We felt very safe and saw lots of amazing
things. Located near excellent restaurants and walking distance to the old city. We walked for about 10 hours every day and saw as much as we could. there were absolutely no problems, the staff were helpful when we interacted with them and the room is nice and the housekeeping was just right. It is so perfectly located that it made getting around very easy. We did not rent a car and found the transportation very easy to figure out. We stopped at the tourist center inside the Japha gate and got lots of good information.

As other reviews pointed out, it is a very good budget hotel in an excellent location. The suites have a kitchenette with refrigerator. Very bare bones but functional, rooms had enough beds/pullout couches to easily sleep 5-6.

The only weaknesses are that:
1) Hotel security is fine, but the room should at minimum have a throw lock or a chain on the door.
2) Barebones means barebones. There was only 1 channel available on the new lcd tv. Then again, you're probably not in Jerusalem to watch TV. Don't look for Ahava shampoo or amenties either.
3) Can be loud outside at nights since you are at the top of Ben Yehuda street.

Another note: The hotel is fairly large but it is not directly on the street. It can only be accessed by crossing a plaza. There is a bellhop, but better signage would help.

Was very satisfied with the room and value. 1 minute walk to grocery, 5 minutes to the shuk. The room was clean, and staff friendly. Wish the WI-FI wasn't so expensive! Would definitely come back. Late check-out was most helpful.
