Stayed at the Eldan in September. Excellent budget hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and very, very clean. No Queen or King beds though. Free breakfast was plentiful and fresh. If you are on a budget, this is truly a great place to stay - it is in a terrific location, within walking distance to the old city and Ben Yehuda.

I first heard about the Eldan from Trip Advisor and although I was hesitant I went ahead and booked it. Some family members were staying across the street and we needed to be nearby. The Eldan is in an excellent location, right across the street from the King David Hotel. The price is excellent. We stayed for five nights, the fourth night was free! The lobby is very small but pleasant. There are free newspapers and a decent breakfast is included daily. The staff is friendly and tries to accommodate. The biggest drawback for me was the lack of closet space. There is hardly any hanging space, my husband had to hang his clothes on the chairs. I would recommend it for a couple, too small for a family.

I stayed at the Eldan for an entire week and found it to be quite pleasant. The location is superb and the room was clean and quite. Granted the hotel itself doesn’t have 5 star accommodations but then again if that is what you want – you should go across the street to the King David and pay the extra $200 per night.

I paid $120 per night (plus $30 for 7 days of Wi-Fi internet access). For that you get a continental breakfast, a great location, and a safe place to rest at night. If you are familiar with the major Hotel chains then I would say that this compares favorably with a Holiday Inn. All things considered, I doubt you will find a better value in Jerusalem.

I stayed at the Eldan in high tourist season for several days; I had both business and a study tour in Jerusalem. The hotel was clean, well air-conditioned and well-kept; the breakfast buffet very nice in the Israeli style; and the staff very fluent in English and very helpful. No pool or other "luxuries" but a short walk from both the Old City and the downtown shopping in new Jerusalem. Other than prohibiting use of the lobby computer on the Sabbath, there were no restrictions to make a "secular" uncomfortable. Highly recommended, especially considering the cost is much lower than the King David or Inbal for the same neighborhood.

We stayed in the Eldan in February 2006 for 4 nights. The location is perfect, a few minute walk to either the old city or downtown. The rooms were clean, the staff nice, and the breakfests good. There is nothing I can say bad about the place. The rooms were cleaned early each day. There was daily linen service, which is not the norm in Israel. Its not the King David, but you are not paying King David rates. For the money, you can't get a better value. I would stay there again, which in my mind, is the highest recommendation you can give a hotel.

The Eldan is located near the Jaffa Gate of
Jerusalem's Old City, near the King David hotel and
across the street from the YMCA tower. Our room was
on the corner of the second floor facing the street
but was still quiet. We booked in advance and asked
for a queen or king size bed but when we arrived
all they had were two twins side by side. The beds and
rooms are clean and comfortable with good blackout
curtains. The bathroom door was badly hung so it swung
all the way open unless very firmly latched - the
sliding closet door stayed open too. The in-room
internet service only worked the last day we were there
but it worked well once available. Breakfast comes with
the room and the food is varied and plentiful. We only ate
dinner at the Pisces restaurant once - it was expensive and
not very good. We arrived on a Friday and the Shabbat
elevator (an automatic elevator which operates according
to a preset program, not influenced by the passenger) took
some getting used to. The lobby is a gathering place for
friends and family so there is usually lots of conversation
and kids running around. The front desk staff were friendly
but were often too busy to help. The room rates were reasonable.
