When we checked in we asked to switch rooms because the room we were given had an adjoining door. We agreed to pay an upgrade fee for a deluxe room, since a standard was not available. Upon first look it seemed fine. However, we soon realized the back ledge of the couch needed dusting, the toilet paper holder was non-existent and had a board in it's place, one of the pillow cases was dirty, and in the morning we discovered that there was a small area below our room that people smoked in. When my husband and I wanted to iron, we had to go to an "ironing room" on a different floor. When we told the Asst. Front Desk Manager about the smoking he said in his three years there no one had ever complained about it. On a good note, the staff was friendly. The chef at breakfast was very nice and answered all my questions about food because of my allergies.

I found this hotel through Expedia (cross checked reviews on TA) and decided to stay here for 3 nights. Being a family of 4 can become costly since outside the US because hotel rooms are typically set up for 2, but this hotel accomadated us. This hotel is equivalent to about a Hampton Inn; clean, comfortable beds, inroom safes, in room fridge, and flat screen TV with English channels. Our room for 4 (2 adults & 2 teens) was spacious and had a good size "dairy" kosher breakfast, many more selections than a typical US hotel offers at breakfast minus the meat! WIfi was in the lobby only, nice to have had it in the room but we managed! This hotel is on the Main road, and is a 20 mins walk on sidewalks or 6.60 ILS bus ride (stop outside the building) to the Old City. There are 2 taxi drivers on site that are available to take you anywhere as well. Around the hotel is the Old Train Station 5 mins walk with restaurants or a 15 mins walk to the German Colony which has some great places to eat as well. The concierges, Emal and Siad were helpful with info, storing bags, band aids etc and Yacob the taxi driver was kind as well. Great value and space for a family of four.

Dear PTCPEREZ,

Thanks so much for the kind review; it's always good to hear from different kinds of travelers, especially families.

Every effort is made to ensure the highest standards of service for all our guests so it is sincerely great to read that you enjoyed the rooms and breakfast and all that our hotel has to offer.
.
Indeed, the hotel is located in a central location, close to shops and restaurants and quick walk to the old city of Jerusalem; recently opened now is the new 'Tachana site' immediately opposite the hotel, packed with entertainment and places to eat and spend time. The location is indeed one of the things the hotel has become famed for.

We would be delighted to see you and your family among our guests again in the future.
With kindest regards.

My wife and I stayed at the Dan Boutique on recommendation by our travel agent's advise. We were not disappointed. The location allows a view of the Old City and is within walking distance of the Old City. Beware it is a walk down a valley and then up a steep walkway. Our room was facing the Old City and was well appointed and roomy. The hotel's breakfast is dairy(a part of Jewish dining doctrine) and has a variety of breads, fruits, salad items and assorted other breakfast items. Other meal service is available for lunch and dinner but the menu is not extensive. Complimentary wifi is available in the lobby and bar areas. ATM is available at a grocery market about 100 metres down the street or at the Old City shopping center in front of the walled city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Old City.

Not a very boutique hotel, since it is quite big and the décor is quite old style. It is good value for money, as the location and buffet breakfast are really good. However, service is rather poor. Any hotel who has housekeeping staff vacuuming the corridors at 8 am should be downgraded. Let guests sleep at least until 10! Room was smallish but clean and quiet. The windows are soundproof as traffic is horrible early morning and late afternoon. Was expecting more, but at least got what I had paid for.

Room Tip: I asked for a room with a nice view and got one facing the old city.
