“Expensive for average Hotel.”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

I can't find much wrong with the Hotel, but I think it is a little overpriced, but then again it's supply and demand what makes the prices. Rooms and bath rooms are nice and clean. Breakfast is good. We did not have dinner at the Hotel, so I can not comment. We did not get good directions from the front desk how to walk to the German Colony Street and Restaurants. There is a short cut across the street from the Hotel through a large parking lot. It only takes 10 minutes to get there.

Okay, we slept well. Rather I slept well, but my wife found the bed too hard, and woke up too frequently. The Internet in the lobby was free and worked well. No free Internet in the rooms. The breakfast is really pretty decent. It's not the best breakfast by far, but one of the best free buffet style hotel I've had. At $230USD it's pricey for the quality of a Red Lion hotel (those are around $65 to $115)

Dear seakeninbend,
We appreciate our guest remarks, as they help us in the process of improving our service; we therefore thank you for taking the time to post your feedback here on Tripadvisor.
As noted, everyone has preferences for bed and matress hardness; we're pleased you slept ok and sorry your wife wasn't as enamoured, it is difficult to find a balance to suit everyone at times.
The Dan Boutique hotel is especially known for its special intimate atmosphere and personalized service, as well as the best value for the money among our many returning guests and in comparison for the local area; we're pleased you enjoyed the style and breakfast and look forward to welcoming you back should you decide to try us again.
With kind regards and Many thanks,
Shimrit - Guest Relations Manager
We would be happy to host you again in the Dan Boutique hotel so you could enjoy a corrective and pleasant experience in our hotel.
Best regards,

The hotel is closed to Jaffa gate (15 minutes walking distance) and Jerusalem at this time of the year, is full of attractions...
The room is nicely designed with very interesting cartoon pictures, wich we understood, isa colaboration with local art students.
The staff is very welcoming and service oriented!
the atmosphere at the hotel is pleasent and calm...like it should be in a boutique hotel!
At night we ate at Colony, nearby the hotel..big expacation...reasonable value for money..

Helpful staff, nice rooms. The breakfast is average, also dining room has no windows, which, personally, I found a bit disturbing. The pillows were very hard - maybe you can ask for another one. Overall the hotel is comfortable for business travelers - the rooms are modern, well kept and clean. The bathroom was very clean and welcoming. Had dinner at the hotel's restaurant and it was good.

Reception staff polite enough, I did not go to make friends particularly but the more 'senior' dining room staff were quite distant almost to the point of being rude. The younger staff were more pleasant. Room was average. I had emailed hotel prior to stay, asking for a room with a view - they were very obliging. Plenty of noise everywhere lthough we are not too bothered by noise - we quite enjoyed listening to the 'call to prayer' at approximately 04:45am. We both found that a wonderful experience. Clean rooms. We were not enamoured by the breakfast but that is down to personal choice; we managed with a coissant and we did enjoy the bread. Not too far from Jaffa gate providing you do not have any mobility problems. We found the hotel mediocre and thought we were paying for something much more special. We booked through travel agents
and feel we were sold short.

Dear ELAINE F,
Thank you for posting your feedback here on Tripadvisor and for letting other travelers know about your experiences in Jerusalem, it truly is a unique city.
We are pleased that you enjoyed the hotel's location near the old city, and all that the city of gold has to offer including the mix of cultures and religions.
Here at the Dan Boutique we pride ourselves on the personalized, individual service we offer to all our guests so are very pleased you found this to be the case at the reception desk. With regards to our senior dining room team, your comments are indeed a concern and have been forwarded to the food and beverage manager for his further attention, thank you for highlighting this experience.
We would hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back to the hotel at some point in the near future and as such, please do contact me prior so I may be able to ensure a pleasant and peaceful stay.
Best regards,

The hotel is nice and cosy. Rooms are well decorated and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
We had a room facing the old city and the view was very nice. Breakfast is OK in Israeli standards. The hotel has free parking and free wifi in the lobby. The sun deck on the third floor is nice with great view. Location is good , 15 minutes walk to the Jafa gate and 2 min walk to the Old train station complex with nice restaurants. The beds are of very good quality. Bathrooms are OK and clean. The lobby is modern and has a large space to sit as a group.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the old city, it is worth the extra charge.

The location to the old city was great (12 min walk to Jaffa gate). The hotel was fine (clean, friendly staff, good breakfast), but boutique is an overstatement, but not a negative -- it just isn't as trendy or small as a boutique).
