Beautiful Hotel with Indifferent Service

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 10, 2019via mobile
For years I looked forward to a return to Jerusalem and the chance to stay at this hotel. From the very beginning the only bright and shining star was Sabrina at reception.

Where to begin? Don’t expect any welcome where the taxi drops you off at the entrance. Be prepared to carry your luggage up twenty steps or a long ramp that minimizes the steps to 12. Don’t expect more than one person at reception for check-in even though other staff are hanging around. (Do remember your passport and the Blue Card given at immigration if you want tax free rate.) Don’t expect more than lukewarm water after 7:30am. Don’t expect your questions to be answered directly or with your needs in mind (except Sabrina!)

I could go on!

We stayed for 4 nights and loved both the accommodations and the breakfast. The room was clean and modern. The building is breathtaking. The location is easy walking distance to the old city, first station and Ben Yehuda street. The breakfast was the best we had during our 2 week stay in Israel. We really enjoyed sitting out on the patio to eat and relax. As mentioned by others, the elevator is tiny and slow. Figuring out how to use the stairs was a challenge but once we did, we didn’t take the elevator. Highly recommended

This is an excellent place to stay. The service is good, the breakfast was great, the staff were really kind and if you want a good omelette for breakfast go and see Nadeem. She makes superb ones. The prices are extremely reasonable as compared to the fancy hotels nearby which are ridiculously expensive and not worth it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the YMCA and I highly recommend it.

The best part from the hotel was the breakfast with the chef Lubna. She was always with a big smile, and served very fastly and efficiently. The views from the tower were great, but some of the rooms were smaller than we expected, and with unequipped bathrooms. The elevator was inefficient, tiny and almost impossible to use. Either way, we were treated fine and the stay was ok.
