I stayed at this hotel with my Mum for 4 nights in October. The exterior of the building & reception areas are beautiful and are one of the main highlights of the hotel. Sitting on the outdoors terrace for breakfast every morning was a particular highlight for us. Location-wise, it is in a good location. The nearest stop for the overland tram which can take you to the central bus station & other destinations outside of the Old City is about 15 minutes walk away and Jaffa Gate which will get you into the Old City is within walking distance too. The hotel has a swimming pool which I used (& is a good size). It is however used for external classes and has male/female only times so make sure you check the timetable first to avoid turning up and finding that you cannot use it. To be honest, unlike some reviews, I did not find the staff's friendliness remarkable enough to comment on - they were just OK. The room was also average. The exterior beauty of the building is sadly not reflected in the interior of the bedrooms (although I suppose if it was we would all be paying much more!) That said, the room was comfortable and fitted its purpose. Price-wise, it is not cheap but then Jerusalem is not cheap either and there are certainly more expensive hotels out there. One drawback which is probably related to the age of the building is that the lift is very very small! There are however stairs which you can use and to be honest, there are not many floors. If you want a hotel with a good location in Jerusalem with a nice place to have breakfast and exercise facilities then this is a good choice. If you want exceptional customer service, romantic/impressive rooms then perhaps you should look elsewhere.
